Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Blown away!

HCMRN here, and I have to say I am blown away by the coyness of our coaches. You were a part of the system they graded us on. You have a pretty good idea of the amount of people being laid off. I’m positive with the lay offs you had some meeting about what to expect as far as your future team. No company is going to let employees go, and then huddle together management and come up with a game plan. My coach for one is acting all, we will get through this together, lean on each other. How about you just be honest. If you know someone didn’t get good marks and is in jeapordy of being let go, you can find a way to quietly say something. I’m sure it will be appreciated a lot more than you know. We have families to support. I know you late 20s early 30s blonde bombshells talk. And I know that you talk about each other’s teams more than you let on. Wait what!!!! How do people know we talk and colude! Well don’t forget, you talk about each other apart just as much as you talk about everyone else in person.

And YES I’m talking about you girls of power in Kentucky! Don’t feed us anymore non fat yogurt to soften the blow. We want the truth. You know if the situation were reversed you would want the same thing!

I have had several really great coaches, as an HCMRN, and one of them was let go in the first round , so I believed my coach this week when she said she was in the same boat as we all were and did not know much more. Our immediate coaches are not high up in the chain, I suspect the ones that really know are the ones that led the meeting this week. The lady who was crying. We dont really know what these layoffs are based on, with such high numbers being let go, there are bound to be many many many who are great performers in those laid off groups. And yea, I agree with what some others said here, quantity of calls does not mean quality at all!

@blown away- rest assured these will Be your last days with Humana. I think it’s safe to say your attitude is no different at work than on this site. Yes, Humana promotes positivity to the point of obnoxiousness, but nobody likes a negative Nancy. Nobody. We are all upset and hurt about this situation. Clearly you have zero common sense to think a coach would risk their own job to save yours. Take your negativity elsewhere.

@RifDaII-1str Agreed! Some days I have 10 calls and sone days I have 5! And on those days I have spent hours helping my member with meds or benefits. Helping get home health ordered. Just because you make 10 calls doesn't mean they are all of value. Those calls where you really help your members are never fully evaluated.

I feel like those evaluations are subjective, unfair, and unrealistic. No one really knows what happens on those call except the nurse, and the member. I spent two hours, and 5 support calls one day trying to get a member their meds. Did my numbers look good? Probably not. Who cares. I’m a nurse first. So much Kool Aid, so many drinking it to survive. It’s just a sad situation all around.

Yes, don't blame the coach. They are not in the position to share information on what they know. Seriously, I am sure all the decisions are made by now on who is going and who is staying. The slackers on our team....well, getting 4-6 calls/day and leaving early every Friday....and running to your kids events throughout the day....don't be shocked!

What clap back you two must be on the same team. The op said they are a top performer and losing their job due to the coach being a clueless 20 or 30 something bombshell. 😯

The layoffs have nothing to do with performance!! I am so sick of people saying that.. Stop!! It is based on businrss needs and direction that they are heading in. since the fold of stay healthy and no merger with Aetna.. business needs changed.. I feel they are getting ready for a buyout. that being said.. accept wjat we cannot change. . Be glad to have had the chance to work in a division that at one time had a great idea to offer the services that we did... Let's face it. members will tell you that what we offered in the beginning set us apart from other insurance companies.. Be proud, accept and look forward to new beginnings! !

I for one don’t blame my coach as she has a family to feed just like me. The program was never a good one.... there was so much redundancy. With overlapping roles how could it survive. The previous leadership was greedy and all they wanted us to do was call as many people as we could daily. Now look at us...we are the ones left holding an empty bag. While they left with a boat load of money when they cashed in their stocks last summer.

Coaches are not to blame. COMS are not to blame. All are doing the best they can. Layoffs s—k, but there is no benefit to villainizing anyone.

People that complain about their leaders not dropping hints or sharing confidential information have never been in a position of management. You just can't---period

I know where i stand on my team. I'm the top performing associate under a terrible coach. My coach is probably one of the worst performing coaches in the company and I'm honestly surprised she was not one of the coaches let go in the last rif. So where do I stand overall? I have no idea. I'm preparing to be laid off because of her.

As a coach, I can assure you we know very little. Our jobs are on the line as well as yours. We are not allowed to say anything. If we drop hints and leadership finds out we will be terminated without severance. YOu want us to jeopardize our jobs and supporting our families for your comfort? Really? Please remember we are all in the same boat right now. We do an evaluation but don't have the final say. Go to policy and see what layoffs are based on. You should know where you stand on your team. It's not rocket science

@RifDaII If you think people want the truth your are wrong. People may want an heads up so they can fight the decision but they don't want to know just to be prepared. The reason your coach isn't going to say anything is because you would argue and try to defend your position. The decisions are made, the numbers are in.
