There will be salary raises and promotions in March. Looking forward!

Many good engineers where laid off. Their salary was eaten up by their managers as annual hike. Atleast ~70 good engineers in Bangalore that I know.
There are salary raises and promotions but 1000 ppl were laid off in March. And more layoffs will continue to happen. It is a toxic environment for employees to be in - always feeling as if they are in the cutting block. Also, if you are in cushy with your manager, you will be protected from layoffs. While they are hiring young and letting go older, the diversity at that place is non existent. Hiring white females is not diversity. Saving each other's jobs of someone who looks like you is not diversity either.
Otherwise, you aren't a manager....you are just
All my Cisco managers s--- big time.
Thinking of them makes me cry ... deeply sad.
The last poster saying it's up to you to gauge your performance.....is a complete crock. If a "manager" is doing their job, they are "managing" their resources. Which includes keeping your employee resources informed of their performance on tasks. Yeah, I know the People Deal did away with formal performance reviews, but any manager worth their salt gives encouragement (or advice to improve upon) to their employees without having it pulled from them. Otherwise, you aren't a manager....you are just a temporary paycheck machine.
It requires a relationship with your manager to know where you stand. What I mean is, do you have 1:1s somewhat frequently, if not, you should reach out to your manager and ask to have it frequently. Document what you've done and ask them, how am I performing on getting towards the next level? If you are not asking for feedback, it's partially on you on coasting and not gauging how you're performing
The quality no longer counts. The raise and rewards depends on if you are from the same village as your SVP and his direct reports, especially true in CSG (RC) and SVBU (SA).
I often wonder how anyone can look at Fran with straight face after this People Deal debacle. Such a disaster.
If raises are to be given, only those with cultural affinity with their management chain will benefit. The "People Deal" insures that merit will not be a consideration.
In a 1:1 in March, your manager reiterates your accomplishments, thanks you for your hard work and hands over a letter stating your new salary. Quite simple, isn't it?
OK, silly question: WITHOUT annual performance reviews ( Thanks, People Deal ! ),
HOW would one person justify a raise or promotion versus someone else ?
Thus: this thread is proven to be a steaming pile of cow-plop !!!! 💩 💩 💩 Q.E.D.
