Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Just returned from India

Just returned from India second trip in two years. Despite what people say top 10% as good as any USA top 10%. The middle pretty much same as US basicly mediocre just like Oregon, SJSU can do the same/repeat work. Bottom 30% useless. Expect future CEO, being hired now in India. They work really hard

The top 10% are from Indian ivy leagues, which are probably more difficult to get into than any of the US ones. The problem with Indian Engineering is the mid and lower tiers institutes which would have just a handful of good talent and most who pay for a Engineering seat ( same for medicos). This means once you have mediocre talent who have paid for play err an Engg degree you get poor talent in who in turn recruit other poor talent to maintain their position. This is the problem with classic Indian technology firms. This is also the issue you see with H1bs, those from mediocre and low grade institutes from India tend to hire other Indian low grade talent. Unlike the west, those who truly like Engg get into it as there are no social compulsions but in India due to the poor socio-economic structures most are forced to get into Engg and not the brightest in mediocre institutes, cos they cannot afford to pay the fees but rather dullards with parents who can afford to. This the reason why a lot of Indians move into management positions early to avoid showcasing their “tech” capabilities. Yes Indians are much more hardworking than their western counterpar, since from Childhood the socio economic situation demands that you strive and workhard to rise. This is the reason that India is not the land of innovation but more slog delivery. A good business model can be established by utilizing Indian and western skills, but a move to India for cost advantages would eventually destroy the firm as innovative talent would move elsewhere...and midlevwl indian mediocres would screwup everything....
