Higher Bonus No Raise

What can one infer if your bonus was higher then last year but you did not receive an increase in your salary?

It likely means you are at the high end of the salary range for your position and therefore your leadership team chose to increase your compensation though bonus rather than a base salary increase. My guess is that it means you are doing a good job.

Yes. I believe merit went to another cause that was the reason given. Couched as less fortunate got yours.

Bonus does have to do with the economy. My bonuses before the recession were 5 times..that is right 5 times as large as they are now. And that was 10 years ago...and I have moved 'up' in my careeer.....

Not true. Bonus has nothing with hows economy is doing. Band 5 and above gets bonuses regardless.
