I wish I paid more attention to these posts back then. Now I am RA'd as of yesterday with a month's severance and three months health insurance.

Was wondering why I did not get the invite to Fast Start training. Now I know.

After 3 years at IBM, 3 to 4 reorgs. 3 changes in clients (which makes it pretty hard to foster a relationship to sell), now I'm out.

Layoffs have started. People are being given one month's severance and their last day will be the 28th. They sent out an email about two months ago encouraging people to find other jobs. They are counting the email date as the beginning of a 90 days notice. As for this happening to products that are losing money, this is not the case. If the product was profitable, people are still being given a pink slip.

Layoffs are inevitable and massive layoffs will occur as legacy businesses hit the "tipping point" and revenues plummet. The only question is the timing.

is this due to the GBS + GTS merger ?

Which BU/group: Hybrid cloud, cloud, watson health for starters. Probably more but those are the ones I'm familiar with. Sales/tech sales plus probably services, development, across the board. Watching IBM reported that in Canada they're sending out early retirement offers this week. I wonder if that will happen in the US also. Four months at a reduced workload/salary then a payoff to exit.

Which team? If you don't want to say, then which business unit or group?

RA is indeed coming. All the posts that said it's false are either IBM management or don't know what they are talking about. I was told up to 70% of our team will be cut! I am starting my search for a job.

To the reply before this one - did the manager state which BU the reorg/RA would be in?

I'm not the original poster but my manager did say off the record that they are putting the final touches on the re-org and pretty big associated RA. She said February, likely before the 2/19 FastStart training in Vegas. If they only give one months' notice, that gets folks out the door around mid-March, which is what the OP (or his/her source) may have been alluding to as far as 3/15. They haven't given the OK to book travel for FastStart yet I don't think, and this is probably what's holding it up. I think we'll have an answer soon. The waiting s---s.

Another uninformed post from an arsonist. Would some layoffs surprise anyone, I think not, but this kind of talk is the mark of a small and frightened author trying to puff themself up for reasons that one can only guess at.

The layoff’s last year definitly overlapped with “Think” . The real operative date is 3/30 as they want folks out and off the books before the end of the quarter . I would speculate notifications will be done by 2/28 with out the door by 3/30.

And out come the shills to support Ginni and old Big Blue. Although I am long gone from the place and have no direct connections, I would never PUT ANYTHING past the ability of Armonk to find a reason not to fire staff at any time

False. Look at the pattern of past layoffs, they never occur that close to a quarter end. Also, the IBM THINK Conference, the biggest customer event, starts March 19 and no way do they want that shadow over the conference. A layoff is more likely to occur in February, just before or after the Las Vegas training (that event will be used by certain organizations to identify layoff candidates).

You forgot to end it with "beware the Ides of March!"

Note how he's already backpedaled on the exact date, and if there's an NDA, then a VP already blew that I guess. Aren't things bad enough without people making sh!t up?

Not likely true at all. A VP isn't going to let something like that slip out. Another unsupported troll trying to cause problems for people who already have to suffer enough anxiety. "No one will be spared." Yeah okay.

It is not an unsupported post; I have heard from a North American VP in Software Sales and Contract Mgmt there is indeed a large RA coming and much of management is under NDA. Is it March 15th - not certain of the date but a big shake up is definitely coming...
