Major cuts in Jewlery Complex??

We keep hearing about major cuts in The Jewlery Complex, but nothing has happened yet?

Does anyone have any information?

Are Clericals safe?

Regarding the Jewelry lead and the texting...you are an hourly associate and should not be sending or receiving texts when you are not on the clock. You need to speak with your store manager and let them know you will be submitting a time entry for every minute you receive or are expected to answer a text when you are off. When he or she balks at this, you then need to get their support in getting the DDJC to take you off the list of people getting texts. If this fails, open a case with AskHR or SIS. The Jewelry Supervisor when you had one was also an hourly exec and shouldn’t even have been dealing with this when they were off the clock.. this is pure lawsuit ammunition, violations of wage and hour laws, and company policy about working off the clock. I would also refuse to text back and forth hourly when at opwork. One text a day is enough, or better yet, one email at the end of the day from your work email (All Jewelry Captains have Macy’s email).

Macy’s jewelry is a joke! I have been a captain for a year, and been doing all the work of a JSS and selling 50% of time with no commission. Then after Christmas they cut one of my already very small team and reduced our hours to the point I’m the only one working and can’t get nothing done. I found a new job because the writing is on the wall folks. With all these cuts they are keeping such crappy people because of how long they have worked there ...selling is not there goal. Collecting a paycheck is ...and for as little work as possible. It’s sad —good luck Macy’s.

And I’m sure some dipshit will be like “your not a strong enough captain/ leader” or some other bs....don’t care i know i am and was great at my job but—- one can only put up with this bs for so long.

In reply to the text messaging from the District Director of FJ, you have two choices: 1) do not text or give your personal cell phone number or 2) go to your OP/AP Director and ask for a cash voucher for all the Macy's related text charges & calls on your personal cell phone. Mention also that you are getting text messages or phone calls on your days offs. There is a company policy on reimbursement of charges for use of personal cell phones. There is also a company policy on paying you for a certain time period if you are called on your cell phone on your day off. Sorry to say this, but if you are NOT a strong enough Lead to ask your OP/AP Dir., or your FJ District Dir., about these policies & reimbursements for fear of consequences, then stop complaining.

Yes, I am actively seeking employment elsewhere. The other floor managers are doing the same. The writing is on the wall.

There is dysfunction from the very top on down to the selling level. It seems Macy's has blurred their mission, and has been more focused on being politically correct, than with being ahead of the game with the digital market.

Find another job......don't be the slave to the company......jobs are hiring. Why deal with all the work load without getting payed. All types of crazy.

Officially, I am still a Captain. We no longer have our Sales Supervisor. In correspondence, we are being referred to, collectively, as Jewelry Leads. I am expected to take on the responsibility of what our Sales Supervisor did, and do 50% sales (no commission) on the floor.

The gal above us, (I think her title is District Director) who communicates daily what all the stores should be doing and emailing sales goals, etc., wants us to text her every day, sometimes, more than once, where we are with presale, event goals, etc.

Once you text her, she captures your cell phone number, and puts you on a group text, and then the fun begins. My phone blows up with constant texting back and forth with the answers from the other store leads......throughout the day, even when I am off.

My phone is not a Macy's company phone.

She wants to be the best and have the best numbers, therefore, she is constantly texting the Jewelry Leads to push their teams. It's over the top.

Our Jewelry captain is still a Captain, i’ve seen nothing about calling them Leads. You don’t have a Jewelry Supervisor any longer? What is your job title in jewelry that you keep getting all these texts ?

As a result of the major cuts of Sales Supervisors in Fine Jewelry, the Captains (now called Jewelry Leads) are expected to take on the responsibilities of the former Sales Supervisor responsibilities, but with NO increase in pay.

Another practice that I find questionable, is the constant texting (and group thread texting) of messages from our District Director of Fine Jewelry, seemingly 24/7, on our personal cell phones.

My phone is not a Macy company phone. On my off days.......I expect to have a life outside of Macy's, within reason.

Stop with the bad info about the clerical. If you weren’t cut now, you are good at least for the next year.

@RnOuwc7c-6ur.....who is your source that all Clericals are eliminated by May 4????

Our DM said Clericals are in the budget for the year.

Therefore your information is incorrect.

They'll probably heap it on what's left of the full time staff and then get upset when no one can make their sales goals because they're too busy doing the clerical work.

So ...if there is no PT Clerical..... who is responsible for doing the Damages, RTV's, transfers, NRT shipments, markdowns, ....etc.??????

We lost our pt clerical and our JSS. Our entire jewelry complex is one ft, one pt, and the captain. Three people. We’re told that we will be hiring an additional ft position, but that’s it.

Just one pt clerical and one pt ringer before all this happened.. Lost the ringer, 2 ft selling and 4 pt selling associates. Kept 2 ft selling and 2 pt selling associates for the whole complex plus the JSS and the ft captain and the pt clerical. Brutal cuts.

It’s a bloodbath ...get out now. They will be back to just the way it was before soon. JSS, JBM’s and captains are about to be a thing of the past. Sad.

Yes, major cuts in JEWELRY Complex are coming. BIG cuts. It’s failed because the company won’t fund it any more. Look to lose half your staff. If you have more than one clerical, look to drop down to one person.
