I doubt it was mentioned, but I gotta ask anyhow. Will those in positions that are being eliminated be able to transfer to other positions within the same (or even a different) Sears store?
I know this will most likely come with a pay downgrade, but it'd be nice to know if the option is available.
The only way you can transfer to another position within the same store or even within the company is if they are hiring at the time of your termination. When our store went through this we lost about 10 positions that were eliminated. We were not hiring at the time so they all lost their jobs. A few have been rehired at minimum wage over the last year but most just moved on.
The elimination of the lead position is to get the people who have been with the company for many years to either quit or move on so the company can hire minimum wage people to do the same job for less money and no benefits.
OP as someone mentioned why would you want to transfer to another store? Take the money and call it a day with Sears. Search for another better company at this point their is no hope for this company.
@bdv Maybe that district already went entirely "Simple Store" at its remaining stores last year?
Not to sound harsh, but why would anyone want that? If you’re offered a package, TAKE IT AND GO. Why keep hanging on? If you stay til the end, and yes the end IS coming, you won’t be getting a severance package. Cut the cord and move on.
What district didn't have any cuts??
Positions will be eliminated from immediately to over the course of a few moths. You can usually reapply but you are considered a new employee so you go through the hiring process unless your store has an opening and your manager will hire you
