Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Glassdoor.com - How is it that Oracle doesn't trend negatively?

Alot of folks look at a prospective employer on glassdoor.com. We should help people "wake up and smell the coffee"!

I can tell you for a fact that support engineers do not get raises. Been with the company for 3 years and no raise no matter how hard you work. Know of some people(same position, IC3, 4, 5) who have only gotten a raise once the last 10 years. I cannot wait to get out of this place.

some of the commenters on here shine brightly on why they were impacted by RIFs and just can’t let go.

@Ro4vAIg-1xks

you are both true idiots and s?ckers, probably from HR ...

Most of the laid off people were outstanding, out performers and employees of the year.

Don't worry, cowards, we will get back to you sooner than you think.

Your posts just show how oracle is a shame. Our cst will decide , not you, and then try to find a new job, then we will be beating your back.

Truly idiots !!!

"I seem to recall that a lot of Sun people were grateful that Oracle kept Sun alive. Though some were hoping for a raise after not getting one for years at Sun. They were disappointed about that, But very few quit. Some stayed on until they were riffed, even though they never got a single raise."

We were and still are eternally grateful to Oracle for bailing us out of JS's incompetence. Oracle was great for 7.5 years due to the stability. No 6 monthly fear of RIFs for many years like it was at Sun. So, thanks to Oracle for the good years. We stayed because we loved Sun and Sun products. The engineers in Sun were tough and smart which caused you to raise your game. A wonderful company in the engineering sense and when we became part of Oracle very few things changed. I loved it. God Bless you all out there.

It depends on the area you are in. Oracle is a huge company. I was TKs org. No raises last 3 years I was there. Before that I was getting some raises and some very good bonuses.

It just depends where you are at in the company and how well that area is doing.

Oracle pays third party sites or probably advertises on classifieds to get those fale glassdoor reviews. Also not many former employees put reviews since it is not anonymous. And who has the time to create a fake profile on glassdoor to do it?

When ORCL bought Sun we were all kept on. Even before we completed our first month as ORCL employees, our director held an all hands to give us the 411. Statements like: “don’t rock the boat. Don’t ask for a raise, in fact do not ask for anything. Do not argue or confront.”

It was surreal. It matched up with everything bad in Glassdoor reviews about lack of ongoing financial incentives at ORCL.

H1B program helps in keeping wages flat, no surprise.

I should have said raise or RSU or bonus. I got RSU in July, RIF in Sept.

According to a survey by Dice. tech wages were flat in 2017:

https://insights.dice.com/2018/01/22/average-tech-pro-salary-flat-2017-dice-survey/

"Tech pros’ average annual pay hit $92,712, a very slight 0.7 percent increase from 2016. "

It appears that ORCL has plenty of company in the "no raises" game.

Every place (6 different places) I've worked at for the past 20 years has had a no "cost of living raises" policy, so the results in the study are not surprising for me.

2017 raises (in the Systems group) weren't announced until after the 9/1 RIF.

I also got a raise/RSU/Bonus for every year 2010 - 2017. Then I got RIFd on 9/1/17.

"I got RSUs/pay raise/bonus every year I worked for Oracle. Sometimes it's not the company..."

same post you made in another thad... you smell like a bot/troll (or both)

btw, I have been graded 5 in the last 8 years, and top performer and top talent in the last 7 years. no RSUs/raises/bonuses. and yes, actively looking to get out of here.

1hrj - as did I. It’s often an individual problem in these cases.

The people I found whining in my orgs were lower performing. We handed out very lucrative packages to the top performers on a yearly basis.

" I have never worked at a company where you don’t receive annual cost of living adjustments at a minimum."

I have worked at more than a few where only "star performers" get raises.

I can confirm no raises which s---s. Been here 3 years have received top marks and good quarterly bonuses. Been told i am a high performing contributor. I have never worked at a company where you don’t receive annual cost of living adjustments at a minimum.

Half the reviews have to be artificial.
