We are supposed to be getting a bowling alley/arcade. Downstairs is a ghost town Remodel has been postponed more than once. Word is trouble getting the money, especially for removing the escalator.

@vfl That's what happened at my store except the tenant was unable to get the permits to open. The 2nd floor sits empty now.

Someone mentioned the costs of the remodel. The cheapest of cheap materials are used. It's obvious that there is no intention to have floors, bathroom or walls last for long. The quality is worse than what the flip the house people use.

The rent from the second floor would pay for the substandard remodel very quickly and then turn a profit.

If it a company owned store they remodel to make it more attractive for a potential buyer or renter. If your store is getting a remodel they will usually close the store soon and either rent it out at more money or sell the store.

Are these remodels more shrinkdowns where 2 floor stores downsize to 1 floor and the vacated floor is rented out to another retailer?
