Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stuck

Does anyone else feel literally depressed going to work lately?

Lately as in the last year. Maybe even two.

I feel like the life is being s---ed out of me but I have no time/energy to find something else. It's easier said then done when you have a family to support.

Sick of working everyday feeling like and being treated like crap and having to hound my team to sell Hum

I can't be the only one.....

Yeah its best that you put on a smile as you're getting f---ed over by the company. Lessens the pain.

@fvge I could not agree more. I've taken the negativity and turned it around. It's not my forever job, it's just a job. I'm thankful for all it gives and has given me and I won't let the toxic atmosphere affect me anymore. Life's too short.

So make all the money you can while preparing for your next endeavor. The ride isn't going to last much longer.

I have felt like this in the past but.... I changed my perspective and it changed my life. Instead of dwelling on the things that anger me about this place, I now focus on what this job has provided me and my family over the years. I’ve bought a home, we’ve taken great vacations, and they paid for my degree. I started thinking about what I really want to do and I’ve made a plan to make that happen for myself and my family within the year. Verizon is my job. I do that and that’s it. They get no more and no less. It has become a toxic place over the past few years but it will only consume you if you let it. See this place for what it is.... an income. Figure out what you want to do and formulate a plan to make it happen. I wish you the best.

Verizon is toxic...it s---s the life out you...you work hard, deliver results and what do you get? Layoffs, 50 pseudo shares, unattainable quotas, re-org upon re-org...it's a mess!

Why? So greedy elitists keep their millions off our backs. We take it to keep a roof over our heads, to feed our families. Lowell knows that many of us will never get the 50 pseudo shares due to upcoming layoffs - its the worst kind of deceitful trickery you could do to the workforce.

Yes, it's depressing and sad to work at VZ... employees deserve better!!!

All the people that say they left and have never felt better..... Coming back here to this page. Posting on it. Why? Life's so better then move on Felicia's. Still trying to reaffirm you made the right choice in quitting I see. Well it's easy to come on here and find the negative. If life's so much better why don't you be some of the postitive eh? Doesn't add up.

I’m still trying to process why anyone would kill to work at Verizon. You cant make such a ludicrous statement and not expect to be called out on it.

Kill to work at Verizon?

Anybody who is anybody can apply and will be hired at Verizon, not like they have standards for the company.

Can you slam products on customers?

Are you ok with us dumping workload on you without compensation?

Do you get thrills out of commission system constantly changing in the companies favor?

VERIZON IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

Killing to work there......what a joke

Yeah Verizon retail is crap. But any retail job is crap.

And retail is bonehead work so the skills are not really transferable to something else.

Go back to school.

If you read my post then you would see that if quitting was an option I would. There have been so many changes in this company compared to what once was a great place to work. Sometimes you stick things out to provide for your family. Working 45-50ish hours a week doesn't leave a lot of time to be on the hunt for other jobs. I am looking but need to find something that works for me. Doesn't mean that I can't vent or ask others.

If you are so happy with Verizon I would love to hear what area you are in. Maybe its time to transfer there

If you feel so down why don't you man up and quit? There are no chains holding you to work for Verizon. I hear Wal-Mart is hiring

trust me I left and I haven't been happier. no more busting my butt 24×7. No calls 24 hours a day only to be asked to do more daily. The company has no loyalty to you. They'll do whatever it takes to make more money for top execs and shareholders leaving the employees behind. Remember they are nothing without you. Do you really think Lowell and top execs are worth millions more because of the work they do? They aren't bu they think they are.

Same here i had it with verizon.

Manager calls and says need to go to another store to help (last week that store layed off two rep now they r short staffed). Verizon does not think ahead for the future I called out, they were forcing me to go. And these younger managers have no clue how to run retail stores. Last two or so year its been sh-- at verizon

I totally understand and feel you. I'm using this as an exercise to control my outlook and attitude while looking for something else.

I can be happy and positive doing THIS, I can do it anywhere.
