A neighbor, who’s in HCM Fusion as developer manager, keeps bragging that he’s in the flagship product, so no layoffs there. Is this true?

Also, follow up to my post below (-4eed), the list of 9/1/17 people showed wide age range. Plenty of 20 and 30 somethings among the 40, 50, 60, and even 70 something people. Oracle has an army of lawyers to make everthing look on the up and up.

You may only get this kind of packet if your layoff round triggered WARN laws.

If you are laid off Oracle will provide a list of ages of all the employees impacted by that layoff. This information is NOT hard to get.

Re: ages of those laid off. IIRC, you get a packet of info listing ages and job titles of all those laid off as part of the severance package. For the 9/1/17 people, this came sometime in Nov. ‘17 (after the “two months on payroll but don’t go to the office” thing). The 9/1/17 packet was pretty long — maybe 10 pages?

emptied out buildings being leased out. This is already happening at the Santa Clara campus.

Really? Who are we renting out office space to in Santa Clara?

Yes, Ginger.. I am in the over 50 category, and I initially thought that this was an age-related decision as my performance reviews have been consistently good. Bright Bart: Where do we get the information about age and positions of the people that were let go? In your post: "To comply with legal requirements, employers must provide information concerning the job titles and ages of the individuals affected by the layoff as well as the ages and job titles of other employees not selected. This is an opportunity for employees over 40 to confirm that age was not a factor in their termination"

@RpEygVK-2dat re age discrimination

People over 40 are a protected class which means you are covered by the Age Discrimination Employment Act (ADEA). As part of this federal law, people over 40 have 21 days to consider the general release form and have a 7-day period in which they can revoke the release. To comply with legal requirements, employers must provide information concerning the job titles and ages of the individuals affected by the layoff as well as the ages and job titles of other employees not selected. This is an opportunity for employees over 40 to confirm that age was not a factor in their termination

"I would think they will close buildings down at some point."

IIRC, two of the buildings in the Broomfield campus are already rented to other companies. Given the mass vacancies in the other five buildings, I could see the remaining employees relocated into fewer buildings and the emptied out buildings being leased out. This is already happening at the Santa Clara campus.

Broomfield office in Colorado is an ever increasing ghost town. People boxing up stuff and leaving for a while now in January. Maybe this is Part of the last layoff that gave folks till end of Jan/early feb to vacate if no job inside Oracle was found.

I would think they will close buildings down at some point. At HP they closed a lot of buildings and forced people to move to other cities if they wanted to keep a job a few years ago. About 50% didn't want to move or couldn't, so they had to resign. I don't think those people got much of a package if any. Could be that is a way of forcing people out without paying them?

Getting out of Oracle is the best thing you can do. If you were not laid off this time, there is always next time. This is going to go on for a long time as the management moves all the jobs to India or eliminates areas entirely.

Staying only adds more Oracle crap to your resume. If you are not planning on retiring soon, you owe it to yourself to get out. You will be glad that you did.

Friends don't let friends work at Oracle!

I was affected as well. After almost twelve years. Fusion IMHO works n crisis mode 24/7. To survive this layoff you would have needed to be married to your job. No life balance. I spent way to much time there.

Funny thing though is that the Cos Springs office just had another wave of "new hires"(mostly H1-Bs that got transferred from my impression) this past week.

There are still plenty of people in the FA org. Number was in the low single digit percentage. Culling of the (perceived) under-performers. Shouldn’t have any major impact on productivity (wasn’t great to begin with) and delivery of future features/releases. Definitely not an indication of strategic change of direction.

😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

A highly successful C.E.O was going home in his car when he saw two men along the roadside eating grass. Disturbed by the sight, he ordered his driver to stop and got out to investigate.

He asked one man

"Why are you eating grass?"

"We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied. "We have to eat grass."

"Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you" the C.E.O said.

"But sir, I have a wife and five children with me. They are over there, under that tree".

"Bring them along," the C.E.O replied. Turning to the other poor man he stated, "You come with us also."

The second man, in a pitiful voice then said, "But sir, I also have a wife and seven children with me!"

"Bring them all, as well," the C.E.O answered.

They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even for a car as large as it was.

One of the poor fellows turned to the C.E.O and said, "Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you."

The C.E.O replied, "Glad to do it. You'll really love my place; the grass is almost 1 meter high! I Wanted to Cut it......

Lesson : Never trust C.E.O.. They will go to any extreme to finish their job.

Is LE doubling down on NetSuit as THE SaaS platform and everything else is getting thrown overboard? And focusing on companies below the Fortune 500 as a result, leaving the big companies to SFDC and SAP?

The summit was just a FAKE NEWS distraction while they prepared to knife people in the back. The sad thing is there are a lot more layoffs coming.

SC has sold a lot of her stock, as did others. Various engineering VP's like MC, MF and the like have started leaving. NCG's through to architects are leaving. There is an exodus in progress.

Fusion Applications is no longer considered the future of the company. After all this time and effort, the product is still barely usable and a nightmare to keep running in our cloud. Even with the REL 13 improvements, it is a resource hog that costs way too much to run, is still buggy as hell, and is painful to use. Just try our new Procurement or Expense systems if you doubt me.

I feel bad for the people loosing their jobs, because I know that not all of them are bad engineers. FA failed because of people like SM and TK. The architecture is flawed from the ground up and dogfoods way too many garbage Oracle technologies like ADF and JDeveloper. Even the good engineers around here could not help save FA from the ludicrisly poor management decisions.

Oracle now seems much more interested in going after the smaller customers. Most of the Fortune 2000 companies are fed up with us, so we need to go after smaller companies that we have not burned in the past. Those users just aren't interested in FA, so Oracle will not invest in it much anymore.

Let us figure out what age group of people got affected in Jan 26, 2018 layoff. I personally know about 7 and 6 of them above 50 and 49. Age descrimination is unlawful and there is huge penality for that. Oracle is very good in hiding data. This is what I hear deom Lawyers.

Please share this with as many people as you can.

If you do not want to be public please use your pseudo name.

I am 55+ group.

Layoff news for me came rather abruptly -- in Fusion Development after a long tenure. All that hype about bright future in the cloud and the 'rah rah' pitch as the Global Employee Summit last fall was, as they say, FAKE NEWS.

I'm surprised there are layoffs in FA. I thought that that area was already reduced to the bone.

Are they actively moving jobs to India in this area?
