Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco to pay $10k bonus to all US employees!

There is also something for other locations - but amounts will be lower, since the whole action is driven by the Tax Reform windfalls in US. Finally!

Nice publicity stunt but not very effective. A grade 10 with 15+ years experience making $125k/year, with hardly any pay raise in 10 years, will just take the bonus and jump ship at first opportunity.

Fresh grads are making as much at other places. Not hard to get a huge raise from such a low base.

What an arrogant muppet. America First....what a joke.

Non-US emps have been milking the Mothership for a long time, so I don't see any unfairness here.

Look for example at LR severances - in US it's like about 8-12 weeks. In EMEA, it's often a kind of money which let you payoff the mortgage and retire immediatelly (typically couple of hundred thousand Euros and upwards of 1M Euro in many casy). Not to say about things like yearly maternity/paternity leaves, better healthcare etc.

But I don't think 10k is coming anytime soon. With tax act, they will probably need to book a loss this quarter because of accountig rules. It's not a material loss, but I'm sure Chuck and Fran will spin it so to not pay full mid-year bonuses.

So the thought is that money earned overseas is repatriated to the USA and given to US employees who didn't earn it because its earned overseas. That would send a great message to non-US employees.

Anyway, it'll never happen. It'll go on M and A and share buy backs.

Dream on. If they gave out anything significant would prorate it over 4 yrs. I suspect the repatriated billions will go for stock buybacks. Earnings call is Feb 14 and finance numbers will look great. Whether any of that is funneled back to US employees in the form of raises or bonus is TBD

LOL! I'll have whatever you're smoking! $10k bonuses? I'd fall over dead if Chuck gave us a $1k. Hell, if he gave me a dollar I'd fall over...

Tax cut review:

ATT, Apple, Walmart, Homedepot - $1000+ bonuses to employees.

Cisco - stock buybacks, more H1Bs, and LRs

b---s---. It was already announced that tax savings is being folded into an “investment return”. Probably buy backs.

Yes, but only with protection.

An in house brand will be used. It's called Firepower. It leaves a burning sensation and kinda doesn't protect very much.
