True definition of force ranking is 10% terminated for cause annually or quarterly depending on implementation. Many more of these stories will come out of isd sadly
This is the typical use of a new Walmart procedure called forced ranking.

Hi all. I am an ISD associate, I joined the company roughly 4 months ago. I moved here from Alabama hoping the smaller sized town would be a good place to live with what they told me in my trip they brought me here for the offer. They showed me all of these fancy places and talked about how strong the economy is and how Walmart affects it. I am in my 40s, and have a lot of job experience, but not a college degree. I joined the company as a Project Manager. Today they fired me, and several other associates, and said it was performance based. I am familiar with corporate layoffs, but this one somewhat shocked me and others I have shared with late this evening. I was let go, no severance, no chance of coming back, and was told I'd get a $1k check. Not one time did my manager ever have a discussion with me regarding my performance, infact, I just started actually being assigned to projects. The majority of my time has been spent training and shadowing. It's not the end of the world, it is just really a dent in my families lives as we sold everything we had, moved to this overpriced area and are now jobless.
I received my meeting planner this morning. Was fairly short, not really any time for questions, and when I ask for examples none were given. Good luck to everyone, I hear tomorrow is going to be worse.
