Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Changes at a Sears Store with Revenue at roughly 11m

ASM of Ops, HL, and SL will be converted to Zone Managers at a reduced hourly rate ($20-$24). Or these positions can accept a 20 week severance package. Of course it makes sense for them to reduce ASMs to hourly because then their future severance packages will be reduced to 8 weeks. Leads will be realigned under different Zone Supervisors. So far no one has lost their jobs.

@1sat-- I would caution this: When these same cuts came to the Kmart side we had some layoff outright and some reassigned to another job description. But within a few months those who were rehired or moved to another position were let go as those positions were cut. I dont know if this will happen but we had at least 6 people who took other resposibilities in the store and were let go completeley with a few months.

Our store in FL lost its Ops ASM, Jewelry Lead, and Receiving Lead, and 3 FT hourly positions. Ops is restructuring into Store Support Zone Supervisor, the two leads are restructuring into 'Coordinators,' and they are adding a coordinator or lead in HL (like hardlines sales lead). Overall, no job count losses unless those that were cut do not get rehired into the new (demoted) roles.

This is just the beginning of the cuts and layoffs. In a few months after everyone gets used to their new jobs and resposibilities they will do it again.

The only Zone supervisors, now and in the past, were in The Twilight Zone.

The cuts have nothing to do with the increase in minimum wage. These plans have been in the making for years/ The kmart side went through this two years ago and now it is happening on the sears side and increasing the cuts on the kmart side. SHC is out of money and has been for a while.

Ever wonder why the shelves arent stocked or everything is on backorder? SHC cant pay. Vendors are asking for cash up front before they ship and SHC cant pay.

The plan was suppose to keep the company afloat a few more years but the vendors have made it hard to keep going so the plan has been excelerated.

I am in a California Sears store. Our SGM told us one of the main reasons cuts were driven in California was the increase in the state minimum wage to $11.00 an hour. He said they were told that the company will continue to look at California stores on an ongoing and individual basis.

Was told today by the store manager the ASM Hardlines position was being eliminated along with the backroom receiving lead position. Also any full time asset protection position was eliminated. So now the hardlines side will have a zone supervisor who will run backroom,HI, HA, mattress Dept, and electronics. all of receiving and Hardline MCA going to change to store support team they will also deal with the shoe Dept. softlines manager now zone supervisor and no one was cut they are still doing the same thing with the exception of pulling their own web orders now. This is the Sears side I'm speaking of and it is official
