Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

nearly 5 hour system crash today

We were kind of wondering...

Did someone decide to run an update or add a patch in the middle of business today...

Or were they just pissed off and decided to take the system down.

It was pretty clear Active Directory was down around 2 on Friday. That mean no Skype, Outlook, or most vendor applications. They know it was down.

They randomly go down for various reasons. It’s been that way for decades. Really nothing to be concerned about.

I just hope it happens again and often.

State Farm has thousands of "systems." It's not clear which one you're talking about, nor is it likely that anyone on this forum would have specific knowledge of why that particular system was down. If you are really that curious, I recommend you use your normal support channels. Someone in third level support for the system in question can probably tell you what happened.

Umm ok, but the systems did go down last Friday and I was hoping to find an answer as to what happened. Guess not since all of the comments are non-related.

Would be weird for anyone to waste their time trolling. Contrary to what some believe people could careless what happens at State Farm Insurance unless they or their families work here.

I tend to feel there is more anamosity among the groups the more stressed everyone gets. It is human nature. I suspect it will worsen as tension builds within our work environment. This is the new normal for the time being.

Just a word of wisdom I'll pass along to people reading this thread. If I were you, I wouldn't be so sure that the people posting here are State Farm employees at all. A few weeks ago there were some obvious trolls hitting the site who clearly didn't like State Farm and were looking to capitalize on the misery of those of us who have been effected by layoffs.

Whenever a rash of posts drop into a thread like this in the middle of the night within minutes or seconds of each other, it's a good sign that they all originate from the same poster (or two. The traffic on this forum just isn't that high, especially at 1am on a Sunday night.

Also, you'll notice that this poster (or two) seems to magically know that people are either Claims or Systems, and even that they are male or female. These of course are impossible things to know on an anonymous site like this. Seems to me like someone just trying to stir up bad feelings.

Don't fall for it.

I have worked closely with people in both Systems and Claims, I have never encountered any open animosity between the two groups. I find it highly unlikely that there is some secret reservoir of anger there.

Both Claims and Systems are impacted by recent lay-offs. Some very good people are losing their jobs. All of these people have my sympathy. I'm lucky enough to have escaped so far, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my good fortune continues.

As far as all the back and forth on this forum, it doesn't bother me. That's the internet for you. I just don't want to see good people s---ed in by what appears to be blatant trolling to rile up an angry response.

Best wishes.

Funny. Totally agree with you. Men seem to have all the answers. Most of them aren’t funny either. Cheers!

Claims employees? Where did you come up with that? Do tell. I too have been monitoring all the threads and the negativity didn’t start until other posters began being critical of Systems. The cursing as well as name calling started then. IMO your comment should be directed at Systems. Btw, I am in Marketing so no need to go there before you do.

@ Kinda funny most of the undesirable comments seem to come from Systems peeps. They wonder why peeps look down on them. Probable also the peeps being weeded out to get rid of. Ironic! Lol

Yes and men who THINK they are funny. They have tons of time, at work, to think of sarcastic and funny remarks or learn ways to use swear words. Ha. Time spent wisely. Ha.

Huh... I'm neither a systems employee nor a claims employee nor an HR employee. But I have been here monitoring this forum for at least 4 months, and there wasn't any animosity until the most recent round of Claims layoffs.

But I wouldn't blame all claims employees for the anonymous rantings of what's probably just one guy talking to himself. Most claims people I know are good people.

ee is universal for employee.

If you cannot be on a forum without calling names or swearing at others you seriously have problems. Yes, I know it’s an anonymous forum but grow up and treat people with a little decency. Haven’t you ever heard the saying it’s not about how you treat people when others are looking. It’s about how you treat others when nobody is not.

I'm pretty sure EE is actually an HR abbreviation for the h--kers in the Tempe Office. I swear I didn't make that up.

You are an idiot. Whoever posted that is most likely in claims or an HR person. EE as in “Systems EE” stands for employee. Geez!!! Systems employee. Whoever it is didn’t make it up. Just because you don’t know something doesn’t mean it’s made up. Geez!!!

Dude, we all know you just made up the term "systems EE" and that you know about as much about Systems as you do about claims.

Exactly. Since they can’t talk right and ask nicely I guess they can figure out on theit own what ee’s stand for. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Brother.

Let's all be nice and refrain from using offensive language while the company violates us and burns itself to the ground. I mean, then we'll all feel so much better.
