Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Layoffs

Kmart had layoffs and really not much heard about that. Sears has them now and omg it's the end of the world. Walk into any Sears and look for an employee. You might be lucky to find one and if you do there will be six standing in a huddle ignoring you. Fact!! Wasted payroll. Kmart only has two in a huddle but will say hello. Lol

@3rhz, It's not the fault of the Kmart associates that changes were made! I work for Sears but I could never be mad at the Kmart associates up the street. In our neighborhood, Kmart is treated as a second class citizen even though as we all know Kmart bought Sears. My coworkers think they are better than Kmart associates although they will use their stolen points to buy there. Entering their phone number for SYW which is dumb but whatever.

Kmart associates certainly did not get to “keep” their benifits. Not sure who you have been talking to or where you got your info, but I can tell you my “benifits” along with 401k went out the window along with everyone else. Get a grip.

To be honest, Sears employees got hit bad after we merged with kmart and became SHC. SHC immediately stopped all pensions for sears and company matching for 401K while Kmart associates kept their benifits. If Kmart associates think we are salty...they are right. Im still holding on to a once great company and will still be here when we close the doors for the last time.

@1jik "Changes always hit Kmart first and it isn't accepted well when it is Sears turn."

Nobody wants these kinds of changes, except the corporate bean counters.

I always found it odd that Kmart could use their discount card at sears on sale items clearance etc but when a sears employee went to Kmart couldn’t use discount on items on sale or clearance

Always said that the Sears side needed to pay attention to what happens at Kmart to see what was coming to their store, but all I got was alot of "troll", "liar", "fake news" responses. Well now they know and I will tell you right now this is just the beginning of the cuts and changes.

Same company but always treated differently. Sears employees always wrinkle their noses when you hand them your Kmart discount card. Changes always hit Kmart first and it isn't accepted well when it is Sears turn.

OP is right & I work for Sears. The KMart folks have been saying this for the longest. Not to be mean but I think some Sears people choose not to identify with the KMart people which is too bad. The company itself kept the distance between the 2 companies though too. I think KMart always had it worse. Right down to the registers.

But posters on here are correct, simple store & layoffs came to KMart earlier and these changes are getting enacted the same way now at Sears. And no one likes it.

Pardon you... forget the huddle, I'm always working my tail off upstairs, usually as the one lone person trying to handle everything up there. If you can't fine me, well I guess it's the nature of having one person on the floor who has a million things to do.

I do believe Kmart will be the one sacrificed. Sears will go on a bit. Dm says everything is fine and better days are ahead. Ok

Are you kidding? It’s always been Kmart vs. Sears. Eddie’s always used Kmart to prop up Sears. Our numbers were always better but Sears got the all the hours and staff. Geez he sold Kmart properties to buy Sears. Everything gets tested on Kmart first. We’ve been operating with skeleton crews for a couple years. Don’t get me wrong, we have nothing against Sears but Eddie pitted everyone against each other. Long live Ayn Rand!

It’s not Kmart against sears or sears against Kmart. We are all human and are all trying our best to do what we can with the limited resources we have been given.
