Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Double edge sword for Qcom employees

scenario#1 Broadcom deal doesn't go through

Qcom upper management is relieved (big sigh) they won't be kicked out. They will get to work and start laying off Qcom employees to save $1B in cost to meet very aggressive projected EPS ~$7. There doesn't seem ways how 1B can be cut without atleast 20% savings.

scenario#2 Broadcom takes over Qcom

Qcom upper management is kicked off immediately and board members replaced.

Review of existing head counts by broadcom management and expect atleast 50% layoff by mid 2019.

In my opinion, Qcom deserves its current situation. Doesn't look like it is tech company anymore. No one talks about technology now a days. everyone focused on personal benefits. All day funny meetings - but i feel them beneficial to relive some stress. BTW I know engineers sleeping behind closed doors in the afternoon. what else I can say..

Friendly Suggestion to all if you will: Be mentally prepared. Start saving now for rainy days. Rest and Vest won't last forever...

Yours truly

"Broadcom Irvine was reduced from ~8000 to ~1500 after Avago"

And RnD and innovation has gone to zero. Hock Tan isn't a tech leader he's a tech undertaker.

It is a matter of numbers. QCOM management announced $1B cost cut, which will be around 4000. Potential boss Tan is way more aggressive. Tan already declared $3B cost savings meaning 12000, and more will come. Mr. No Mercy

TGI Friday. Wish to see QCOM thriving without BRCM. BRCM will be standalone. Hock won't be Hawkish. Trump with his rescue planes for BRCM to save BRCM from deepest and darkest trench in Pacific. After all Hock for Trump and vice versa.

QCOM is one of the best company to work for and more stable company with it's best in line roadmap s and it's vision, mission and strategies. The most innovative engg company in the world will be the bestest in future too while bester engineers work in there. Hock will try to imitate it's competitor only to be standalone.

will it have any impact on SD Housing if Broadcom takes over

I am worried as I bought home back in 2014 and am a single earner

agree, QCOM employees will suffer one or the other way

but this time mid-management will also be part of layoffs unlike 2015
