Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears laid off 600 employees yesterday. (1-27-2018)

Yesterday my store went from one store manager, five assistant store managers, and four leads, to one SM, one ASM and one lead. I have no idea how they think they're going to run this huge store with those few people.

This number is nothing compared to what is to come. Wed. is big for corporate. First week of March everything changes for everyone left. Either get out or ride the ship down.

@RrX4tSP-2pbv Damn your store got it huge. More than twice the ASM's we lost. Biggest problem is way to much management very little hours invested on the actual task and floor. What I think its a slap on the face is they can come back for a huge demotion and cut of benefits. I mean here in California with what they are offered they probably will make no more than 25k an year huge pay cut for so much responsibility.

My store also lost 5 managers Friday. These were managers of various departments - Appliances, Jewlery, etc. - and our assistant store manager. They can re-apply for a "coordinator" position that is hourly pay, not salary. At my store, I feel like its a good move that should have been done a long time ago. There were more managers than actual workers. Its a struggle to operate the store, especially when most of our managers hang out in the back room and don't help out.

March 2, 2018, a date already mentioned on this site, will make January 27, 2018, look like just a small drop in the bucket. I'm not waiting around for it to happen. You shouldn't, either.

ALL ASM spots country wide had been eliminated. They will not have to fight and reapply for a supervisor role, doing more, going from salaried to hourly, and taking a pay cut.

Sears in El Centro just lost two asm and 1 lead that I know of will find how long the list is today when I go in. So glad I started the correctional officer process cause this place is getting smaller and smaller! Very sad!

My store lost an ASM and 6 FTA30 associates yesterday. They can all reapply and come back as part time. The ASM would be hourly.

It's because Sears management has never really known how essential it is to have the appropriate number of staff to run a Sears store. It's also because Sears management, if you actually want to call them management, just don't care and they never did care.

The place is going out of business, of course they are going to lay people off. What's funny is that's news to the people who work there at this point. The shoppers understand, that's why I sit in my underwear at home and order stuff to be placed on my door step the next day.
