Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Stop with the foolish Sears comparisons

https://www.thestreet.com/story/14455904/1/why-neither-macy-s-nor-jcpenney-won-t-be-the-next-sears.html

This article is a great read. I get that Macy's has been going through a transition period, but to say that the company is nearing bankruptcy is just plain ignorant. Macy's is NOWHERE near Sears, people.

At least we're not Bon Ton. They beat Eddie(Sears) to the filing.

Macy's is just another turd in the toilet that is dying retail department stores, it just hasn't quite swirled to the bottom of the bowl yet. Give it a few more cycles, we'll get there.

Yes. The Sears downfall & Macy's current situation is similar in many ways. I know because I have worked for both. As have many executives.

The comparison with Sears is a warning not an insult. Take it as such.

Face it department stores are fading away. Can’t compete with online, physical stores will close. Times change so does life. If you don’t believe this is the beginning of the end for physical retail stores, you’re in denial. Try to tell video stores and book stores that technology will bring them back lol

Technology killed them. 70 80s 90s were a great time for department stores but this is 2018.

What happened to the dinosaurs?

Time to wake up and smell the coffee....it is happening and will continue. Macy's will def close my stores. If you have to question it,........it is probably true. Give it one or two yrs and we will see who is left. Jcpenny at our mall in north jersey after 60 years ....yes 60 years just out of blue said will close by March. They know what's happening , but you will never know what hit you. The tippy top know but need to use the workers til end if not people will leave before hand and nobody will be left to run the store. So they say all is good lol.....

Your correct sears has help on the floor and Macy’s doesn’t. So we’re one step lower on the service scale.the real estate is what is of value not the sales!
