Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

The Rumors are True

This was posted in another thread, but the info is too important not be seen by more people. i hope that @R3TaH6C-nsns does not mind me reposting.

At the end of Q2 2018 DSD will no longer exist. We will find out end of April. Managers will find out beginning of April.

Fianance working on incentive packages currently.

My Uncle is Senior Finance and has informed me.

Huge objective increase for Q1 so it looks like DSD failed. This will give them the excuse.

New CEO is against DSD, that is why the Board of Directors hires him. New NA President has experience with Kraft overseas, that is why he got the job

Product Supply is fine, the product is going to warehouses just not DSD Warehouses.

Time to start looking for new jobs. DSD will no longer exists.

If we are supposed to be around in the future? Why have the branches been left in a position of never being able to make a budget?

One of my Kroger said July also. Supposedly an email went out to management about the changeover to CAO. Not sure if it's a rumor or real

Funny how their telling us at these meetings that we will still service Walmart after they go CAO in April. My manager told me today to start watching my backstock since they will be taking over soon.

I know of 1 monelez driver who retired early because of the long drive to pick up truck at a storage yard (I think) this past year because they no longer had the warehouse that was close to home. I know b4 kelloggs went warehouse mondelez was scanning at walmart that they could order it.

The savings in CAO is in carrying way less inventory on the shelf and in the back room, especially when it’s end of the period and trying to sneak in an extra 20-25 cases to hit the numbers. Keebler is off and running as they hit their 4th quarter numbers (which is first quarter of new format), and a big factor is the forceouts that are still coming, but they don’t get refused like DSD.

Those occur all the time, not what it's about! Our announcement, when it occurs, will be a conference call with HR. That's how they roll.

Haha, did your manager tell you that? Keebler is kicking butt! Notice how much trade money they have, price points we can't even get close to! Two weeks at $1.77 for entire cookie and cracker line. Management has been heard spreading that rumor to try to throw off red flags, they fear a mass exodus!

I heard keebler warehouse decision is failing, so why would nabisco do the same

Exactly, the savings come when they no longer are under contract for DSD! Instead of having a sales rep write the order, and reps have cars, generous vacation (too generous as they took some back already), and a salary higher than the WM team lead, they can give that responsibility to WM employee. Then have a WM employee stock it, and they make far less than our merchandisers. We know WM struggles with Keebler but don't lose sight of the fact that the folks in Bentonville are making the decisions, just like our WM folks who think we benefit from sending blind orders! That level only looks at the bottom line across the board! In other words another lie to make you feel your job is safe!! It's not!

Makes sense.

That will give them time to start filling up the stores warehouses and work out the CAO glitches.

We're the test dummies for all of these new programs!

Writing is on the wall!

DSD is coming to an end!

This is how they sold it us at the sales rally:

CAO makes it easier for the reps. Frees up the time that we would have spent scanning shelf tags to go sell.

Here’s the problem... I can scan a Walmart shelf order in 5 minutes, check the backstock and be done with the whole process in 10. Is CAO going to be perfect? Doubt it, we are still going to have to adjust and “fix” the orders which will probably take more time than just writing an order from scratch. Guarantee we will have excess backstock issues, shorts, damages and mis picks that will throw off the system. But hey, at least we don’t have to spend 5 minutes scanning shelf tags.

Can someone explain to me where the cost savings are for CAO if we still use our costly drivers ,merchandisers, and sales reps? Hard to believe walmart would do it if there is no benefit.

Tons of Keebler displays and they get space since the store now owns it!

Soft sales are true! we don't have the healthy items customers are looking for and Vea, huge flop!! Only way mondelez has profited in NA is by cutting jobs and moving bakery to Mexico. No where else to cut now, reps already have too big of territories so time to change things! This has been in the works for years, finally time to implement. Exact time line I cannot say but my guess is end of Q1, for those of us who have been around some time that has always been the time for change (split from Kraft, layoffs, etc). Good luck all!

Yes, unfortunately, the rumors are true. I work in investor relations, annual and quarterly earnings reports coming out Wednesday afternoon. Expect a veiled announcement for stock holders and analysts... fomal announcements for employees to follow....

See what I did there?

Agreed. Way too many red flags: product supply issues, managements unwillingness to give a straight answer, store shelf tags converting over to their 'bar code', Full Timers writing shelf orders, and many others. One thing I'm not hearing on this site is the simple fact that sales are soft. The takeaway at store level just isn't there. I'm located in the Northeast and we should be blowing out of product with two Northeast teams in the Super Bowl. But it's not happening. I hate to say the end is near, but CAO is coming and I see the need for Sales Reps fading. I actually thought we would see the changeover five years ago. I give the company credit for holding on to DSD this long.........as a side note, are you (Reps) seeing a larger Keebler presence in the stores than before? Here in the Notheast we are seeing Keebler pallet drops everywhere.

Yep, and the new factory in Mexico was supposed to be the answer!! No more excuses!! My money would be we won't see this summer and I've been here 20 years, way too may red flags!

I'm not sure if all of the rumors are true. But I can tell you this: I've been a Sales Rep with Nabisco/Mondelez for nearly 25 years and I have never, ever seen product supply issues that we have been seeing for the past eight or nine months. When you question management regarding this issue they simply talk around it and don't really answer your question. They always reference the malware attack or natural disasters.....Walmart is going CAO. This is a fact. Other National and Regional chains will follow. I don't know the timeline but things are moving quickly. I will stay for the buyout/severance package. If you have only a couple of years with the company it may be prudent to polish up your resume and have it ready. If I were a betting man I would say our days are numbered. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt we see the end of the year......just my two cents
