Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No work

Any other garages suffering with no work. Our bosses are sending people in both copper and fiber out on open plant jobs...no job numbers, just find it-fix it type jobs. This is in NJ. Been like this for about a year and getting worse. They NEED to offer an EISP and get some of the surplus off of the payroll!!

The transformtion will happen when they tape a line around the new fiber equipment in the c.o. and spin wireline off.

I seriously don't think Mr. McAdams wants it around for the next set of negotiations.

Boom. Spin wireline off and go on under VZB CLEC.

Copper splicers in southern New Jersey are in some cases 2 men per vehicle and a lot don’t even have buckets...they’re driving around in vans.

In Western PA, we have work but zero overtime, and a bare bones budget.

I'd say they are I debt! Cutting costs and an EISP is coming soon!

Mismanaged Verizon, when will they learn?

You guys must be from north jersey...here in south jersey there is no work. They have us driving around looking for open plant to fix. Zero overtime....which isn’t really a problem because how would you expect overtime when there isn’t enough work to keep us busy during the regular work hours. Fios is at a craw, no new fiber being placed...therefore no splicing needed to be done by the fiber splicers. If you think that this is fake news, call someone in one of the southern garages and hear it direct from one of the techs. When we do get work, it’s always in fiber, no copper work, and that only lasts for a few weeks, then back to open plant work.

@4jsh

That's because this thread is fake news. This website has been overrun by trolls. Everywhere in vz footprint is swamped because our numbers are down due to the company doing their best over the years since around the year 2009ish to eliminate techs.

Where in NJ ? I work in NJ and I can't go home at all because there is too much work! The only way I can get out at a decent hour is if I have my 10hrs of OT, which with all the forcing in our area ,doesn't take too long. There are members in my garage alone that already have 200 hours of OT for January. The average is 60+

Maybe they’re going to train these new techs and offer a huge eisp?

Very little work in VA... Keep putting jobs on hold and no Ot since Sept. 17. They keep hiring tech's though makes no sense

@irz

Whoever the "engineers" are writing up orders with facilities that require a 2400 ft drop wires plus clear curve through one building, up the side of another out the back, over a fence, through 2 yards down the hill, and 4 poles into another the street....needs to be home

Tech a lives in bronx and reports to statenisland. Tech b lives in staten island and reports to the bronx. Both tech a and b are not allowed to switch jobs. They criss cross each other wasting gas to and from work. Verizon way of going green

Plenty of work in nyc, but no ot.

Wish they would open up transfers within the 5 boroughs so we could move to the borough we want. Than nj people can come over.

There’s hardly any engineers left....they send out most of the work to contractors that have no idea what outside plant really is.

There is work out there. The problem is they laid off to many engineers to write up jobs.
