Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Impact of 2014-2016 layoffs at Intel's Guadalajara Design Center

I left Intel's GDC in Q2'2014. Back then, there were voluntary resignation programs for many employees, the same occurred in 2015. Then, I heard about 2016 massive layoffs during that year's Q1 and knew that about 10% of Guadalajara's headcount were let go. It seemed there were additional layoffs late last year (2017). Is this true? What happened? What do you think about GDC's collapse?

Most sites are now full of entitled, lazy millenial RCGs or with less than ~5 years experience. I've worked with GDC and CR. They are no exception, all engineers from sh-t hole countries s-ck, but BA is the worst by far, they are completely clueless. Experienced talent has left this company in droves at all sites. That's the price you pay for cheap, and the legacy of the moron BK.

I left Intel's GDC in 2017. As @Ru1KCzV-2jhn said it is insane but the trend is to cut the experienced engineers and replace them with technicians or RCG. Almost all the engineers laid off in 2016 are now working in German companies (Bosch, Continental, Hella) so at the end every one is happy (The guys that were laid off got a new job, Intel got its headcount reduction and the German companies got well trained engineers at no cost for them). I left because now GDC is full of clueless RCG with bad attitude. Sad end for GDC.

@1zuh - True. Most experienced and talented engineers left those sites in 2014, 2015 or took VSP in 2016. What remains is management backstabbers, brown nosers, grandstanders and clueless RCGs. Pretty much the same as the rest of the company.

Yeah, talking about collapse is a great exaggeration. However, it is a fact that a number of very skilled and experienced guys are now out of Intel's GDC, some of them were founders of that center, and that will have a negative impact on the quality of their work.
