Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Severance

Not understanding how this whole severance pay works. Was let go on Friday and the whole process wasn’t explained to me very well. I was told to call 88sears for clarification. Called and here’s their response: “Please get with the store to find out how the pay works.” Unbelievable. Anybody here know when and how an Ops ASM will get paid. I already know the amount but need assistance on when.

I had to fill out severance paperwork. It was given to me in store before we closed.

@iez great job

It’s pretty sad that we as employees can’t trust this company to do the right thing regarding anything

I seriously believe the reason out sears DM was e cited last Thursday is because he will be getting a big fat bonus off the backs of the worker 🐝 bees based on how many people they can screw out of their severance and health insurance

I had to ask 3 times to get my severance paperwork. I faxed my signed forms to the number given and received a confirmation--but never got a direct deposit. Called 88Sears, who said they had no record of ever receiving my fax, despite the fact that I had a time and date stamped confirmation message. I recommend that you hand deliver your forms to someone in HR and keep a record of who took the forms, noting the date/time.

Keep a close eye on your severance payouts. My "final" payment was a fraction of my usual paycheck and the total severance processed was half of what was offered. It took a couple of calls before I located a very sharp and very fair person at 88Sears who listened to me, reviewed my paperwork, agreed that I was shorted, and expedited payment. Everything worked out in the end, mainly because I stayed on top of things. Let Murphy's Law be your guiding light, get ready to fight for what is yours, and you'll be fine. Best wishes and good luck in whatever is next in your life.

The above post is correct. You get a packet with your package and everything you need to do. Store must fax their end of the paperwork as well. When i was laid off they were so backlogged with severance because so many people across the country were laid off that it was a month before I saw my first direct deposit. Good luck and get ready to fight and be on hold for hours on end.

You should have received a packet, and there should be papers that need signed and faxed to corporate.. I think you have 45 days (not sure). Pay doesn't start until paperwork is sent in. I was with the Kmart side and that's how our was. Good Luck
