Why are we losing our best managers? There are plenty of people who actually deserve to be shown the door, yet they are still here. What gives?
Is this Walmart's way of insuring they have cause to close more stores? Leave all the worst managers on, see sales plummet, announce closing?
Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was the case.
The people getting let go have high salaries and are not performing. The DMM of Jewelry was a good example. I will not miss him.

I’m sure you calibrate Managers by who is easy to work for, just like all great companies, results are the key. Those of you who are let go with severance will realize that you are the lucky ones. Lots of better companies out there expanding. Companies that actually have merchandising plans and nicer, more competent people. Walmart is just chaos. No merchandising plan. Bentonville orders displays, no plan to merchandise, Cos don't communicate with each other or assistants.
The ones that ought to be sweating now are the store managers. If the plan is to groom Co for store management that means the store manager had better perform or get the ax. Cos who don't live up to expectation - no severance for you.
Keep your nose clean another few weeks, smile and then take the money and run, don't look back.
BTW I recently heard a rumor from a local business person that Supercenters will be going away. Just a rumor, but....

Best managers are usually the ones with highest salaries. That's why you are losing them, it's not some big conspiracy theory.
