Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is the latest layoffs round really a bad thing?

Anybody else thinks that the latest round of layoffs was actually needed?

Sears has been cutting people in stores and forcing hours down to bare bones for long enough that there is barely anything left to cut.

Cutting some of the people from HQ who make more that any one of us on store level even come close to might actually bring some positive change after all.

Just my opinion.

A reduction of people in HE won’t change anything at the store level. Things will just be even more of an unorganized mess.

The only way you’ll ever see an increase in hours is if you see a decrease in the amount of people sharing those hours. I highly doubt you’ll ever be given more hours overall.

Sears is a joke, the one near me in Kaneohe fired over half there employees, no warning, and fired them in the beginning of the day and asked them to stay the rest of the day but don’t come in tomorrow, LMFAO! They claim they are investigating employees and it’s a large scale company cuts thing. Memories serve me right, u investigate before termination, SEARS is Retarded. Here’s the only thing I can’t help but think, assuming there rebuilding there company (witch is smart) But why it took so long to do it gives me the idea that Sears management doesn’t know sh-- about how there own business works.

Returning everything I’ve purchased over the course of a yr from them, And the item insurance plan, well srry. *Also note, 7 hrs is the max 60ish % of there employees get, A week, 7hrs in one week, while hrs also change in time every week.. Horse crud for someone who has a job already or needs to find a second seeing how u can’t do sh-- with that kinda money. My friend works there, she’s quitting and another guy that started way back since the beginning, over 10yrs with no promotion, no raise, and no managmeant opportunitys neither, he’s leaving too, but there the only ones working there I know on a personal level.

Theres others talking about leaving, hrs cut, firing madness, they got such a small amount of people working there and they Got them wanting to leave. No job security at sears, they hired bunch off people on Black Friday, convinced them they would be there a while and fired them a week latter LMFAO! I’d quite too after hearing this, and supposedly they got rid of a manager that was on top of things, an the other ones lazy and disappears, had intercourses with 2 employees and rumors on more, and they push all there employees to go drink after work, one fat one that is rude drinks and drives often (her business, thought I’d just throw it in there.)

Say what u want but Im just not giving my money to them, there often over priced anyway.

Bottom line, place is a joke, there idiots running sh--, s-xual harassment issues arising cause the women the manger boned got fired, lol. Theres Much more but I said enough, my middle finger goes to you Sears.

Some people with a college degree have no more understanding of what to do than one without. The degree doesn't mean much when it comes to the actual work; it just look good on your resume. I agree that they need replace the upper management instead of getting rid of those who just do what's asked and don't make the dumb decisions they keep making. Eddie needs to learn to step aside and let someone who actually knows what he or she is doing when it comes to running a company.

The problem as always mentioned so many people on top and yet the very bottom people that try to keep the company running get the major cuts. I seen it in my store they have cut so many hours customers are complaining so much that their is no one to get help. Thats because they keep cutting hours. My department has been running an increase, I don't know how, but this coming up week with the new changes of "Simple Store" we are getting cut.

Like always the top will try to not get cut they make so much more we don't need so many people on top at this point, but its just a little to late since they never would want to touch the top.

Many of the teams at HE need to be cut. Buyers, marketing, IMX, advertising, and many more of the departments that are redundant or really dont matter. Not being cruel but SHC is like the federal government. They have 4 people doing the job of 1 person, departments that have nothing to do with profitability. I saw on Pebble someone who posted that they now have a channel devoted to buttons, buttons!!. They whole page is about the buttons that they use on the website. While that is important why spend the time and money to make a whole page to let people know about buttons.

SOmeone tell me how this is a good use of money and time.

It isn't going to change anything at all. If anything it makes the company look even worse since it shows that not only is the retail end of the business is failing to keep people around it is also hurting the big wigs enough that they have to cut their own people.
