Thread regarding L3 Technologies layoffs

Severance offered to some at L3 Madison, MS

Severance packages are currently being offered to some employees at the L3 facility in Madison, MS. All temp employees that were part of the Army C12 program were dismissed today. Rumor is all temps will be dismissed then permanent employee layoffs will begin if enough volunteers don’t come forward during the short window to receive a severance package.

So was the quota filled by volunteers or will there be a random plucking of the flock to get to a magic number?

Was thinking the same about Mr. Madison failing to see the similarities. Looks like L3 is F’d up all the way to the top. Your points are spot on!

With all due respect, the purpose of Waco and Madison are two different animals.

Waco was a production facility, and Madison provides a service. Madison doesn't produce anything, Madison is only administrative for the service contracts at remote operating sites.

With the loss of the Army C-12 contract, there is no use for any temporary personnel associated with that contract. The last day of transition out was February 28th. This means that there isn't any more money coming in from that contract to pay temporary employees.

Everyone at Madison knew that layoffs were on the horizon with the loss of several key programs and in inability to attain new contracts that they were counting on winning.

If the voluntary separations are not enough to get to the staffing levels, then involuntary layoffs are immanent. Its s---s, but its part of government contracting business.

Part of the reason that Madison can't be competitive in contracting is that the overhead costs are too high, upper management salaries and bonuses are through the roof. You can't throw a rock without hitting a senior manager or director. There are mangers who don't manage anything or anyone. Madison has a director who has a manager, and they have a request for an analyst's, and no one knows what they do,
