Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Why, How Did Qualcomm Management and Board Let It Come to This: Loss of the Company

Qualcomm shareholders have been ill-treated by this management and board for way too long. Come March 6 that ill-treatment will result in the downfall of a great American innovative company. Why did management and the board allow this to happen? Unbelievable!

@Pye and @dcg both are right on. I would add

1:blindly geoshifting without consider strategic impact and purely based on cost caused fights between multisites and angry customers (they don't have time to wait for very response from SD)

2: treating engineers like factor worker shift them from one group to another regardless their long term career path turns owners to renters!

3: heavy process and horrific branchings literally demolished anyone's motivation to innovate and build better product. Who would want to fix anything if they need to bet all PEs for checking and manually port changes to multiple branches?!

.....

The list go on. Good people already sick of the situation and left to Google.

He does not realize that people see through his BS in metings. His bullying tactics and theatrics wont be tolerated for one minute in any other company.

Nepotism, favoritism, and mediocrity have rotten the whole company. It’s going on blatantly in all departments. In PTE, MC who is himself only a bachelor degree holder wants to surround him only with nincompoops, incompetent, and a-lickers at top level. There are a lot of principals and directors who are from donation colleges from subcontinent. They could not get into a government college, their parents had to pay to get them an engineering degree and here they are acting as top scientists! What a shame. This culture for years has hollowed QCT and breaking its spirit.

  1. Nepotism

  2. Not fixing licensing

  3. Consensus decision making with no accountability

4.Poor cost control (think CRD projects)

  1. Lack vision and ability to place bets correctly and monetize those

  2. Not a Winning culture

  3. Picking fights with customers

List can go on..
