Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Sales layoffs

The really big sales lay off will be in Q4 at the end of the year. The new fiscal year is when all the big salesforce changes will be made. They’re coming, rest assured.

Can somebody confirm if this is true? I could use some peace of mind, even if it is for just a few months. Right now I'm in fear every day of whether I'll have a job tomorrow.

@S4qgrd5-5mdg, they have been paid in the past.

Question: I’m in sales, if I get laid off in Q1, do I get paid my commissions sold inQ4? What if I quit after Q4? I always thought as long as we were here for thebooking, we are paid, but one of my peers is now saying not.

Not all of the restructuring budget gets paid out to people who are laid off. Some goes to things like cleaning out & shutting down no longer needed office buildings, moving survivors into smaller buildings, covering legal challenges, paying for CORBA benefits, replacing equipment in remote labs or shipping it to another site, going through required workers council or similar processes in countries that require it, paying bonuses to VPs who met their cost reduction targets, etc.

Yes, layoffs are coming. Everyone knows this. It’s the worst kept secret at Oracle.

Anyone have a single example of a company that has not spent 100s of millions of dollars they budgeted for layoffs?

Have never know a company not to spend its entire restructuring reserve when it’s for layoffs. It will be spent which means that lots more people will get the pink slip!

"How do you know? Budgeted doesn't mean it has to be spent."

A good point. They might not spend it all, or end up spending more.

Out of that, $400 million is left, a significant amount. It will be spent at some point.

The thing that everyone needs to remember is that 1.1 billion dollars was budgeted for layoffs. Out of that, $400 million is left, a significant amount. It will be spent at some point.

Don’t be so harsh, man! He did switch his metaphore from “dead wood” to “background noise” which certainly requires some effort!

it's completely normal in a 100,000+ employees company, just background noise.

3 threads in a row. You get a big gold star for effort! It's almost like this is your paid job or something! Guess I'll cut and paste the same response here too.

Cool story bro! Tell that to the Solaris customers waiting for Meltdown and Spetre fixes. LOL.

I've been following this site for the past year or so. in the past there were some useful informations, now it's just a bunch of fake and useless posts.

people are leaving, hundreds of people, yes, and it's completely normal in a 100,000+ employees company, just background noise.

Q3 will show significant growth, and this will consolidate the business and the stocks. there will be no big layoffs in Q4 or Q1, just the normal noise.

"peace of mind" and Oracle are mutually exclusive.
