So many senior staff engineers are useless

In SW anyway half of them do not write code. Ask when there was a git or p4 checkin last. They attend meetings after meetings.

Some were promoted for political reasons and have no clue as to what they are doing. Let alone I wouldn't even consider them a senior engineer.

50 percent reduction of senior staff engineers is still not enough.

After you are cut by 25 PCT, Octane will fire the rest of you useless Sr staffers.

Good luck getting a comparable paying job, you wouldn't even pass a coding interview.

OP, please start a software company, and once it passes the 100 employee mark, let‘s see how many employees write code and how many don‘t.

I suspect you have been a software developer for a year or so, because your post reeks of a severe lack of experience. 10 years down the road, you will feel quite stupid for it.

Remind me of the senior staff engineers in LTE INT. He got promoted because he is from the same villege as senior director. This guy hasn't written a single line of code and his title is senior staff SW engineers. His contribution is mostly blocking other people's progress and add people in the email thread.

I left QCT sw long ago for the very same reason. b---s--- quality code with b---s--- quality processes, and paper pushers in every corner.
