Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I want to be cut

Been here for 17 years and wish I could be LR'ed. Need the package. I can find another gig very easily. I started dragging my for the past 2 years but it seems my name and the LR list are like oil and water. If I ask my manager, is that a good idea or will he just put more pressure on me to jump ship?

If you want to get the package, it is very easy to do.

1) Start doing a great job (very important, you don't want to get fired while doing the next 2 steps.

2) Start openly questioning management decisions (especially your boss and his boss) in group meetings. Don't be insulting, but ask probing questions that expose management stupidity. Questions relating to TAC or partners are very effective here.

3) Answer every "anonymous" survey (employee, workplace, or tools) with complete and total distain for management. Make a point to insult the real-deal, open workspaces, lack of sodas, or even the the quarterly pep-talks.

Do step 2 correctly, and your boss won't "protect" you. Do step 3 correctly and he won't dare. (For bonus step 4 is visit this site from your laptop while in the building - rumor has it they track it.)

Sad to see some of you eating your own. Anyone whose been at Cisco several years knows the routine. No surprise that it eventually wears on people and attitudes get effected. It comes down to where you are in life...age, family, location, etc. You naive ones shouldn't attack your coworkers who've been thru the Cisco shredder. Your time will come. You mean nothing to Cisco.

Nope. The bonus is for the first half of the year. That's been and gone. If in doubt give HR a call.

If someone leaves after the mid year bonus letter but before the actual month end payment from payroll, will they claw it back ?

You should be sacked not LRd. By your own admission you are dragging...i assume you meant to add the word a*s. That means you are effectively sponging off your colleagues and Cisco. You are a waste if space. Just f1ck off.

Just move on. Cisco is full of people hanging on for a "package". Unless you are best buds with your management team, they will do what they can to avoid giving you a package. Get yourself a signing bonus, if you are so marketable vs slacking to get laid off.

maybe you can try something like i did. not sure if it helped or not and you will have to improvise.

during my mid-year of 2014, i told my manager that JC was the second luckiest man alive next to RIngo Starr and that at least Ringo added something great to the mix. I commented that he should have been shown the door at least 10 years prior and that a lot of his cronies should go with him. i then went on to say that i really do not care if i get LR'd as long as JC goes and that they get a real leader in there to clean up his mess which i believed would help drive up the stock price. although the stock price still is not where i believe it will be, it is over $20 higher now.

i do believe (naive?) that better days are ahead for cisco.

I go back and forth. Senior management are complete soft cluck muppets. However, I enjoy the challenge of understanding and fixing the SW mess from our subcontinent contingent to protect our customers like Telstra, Singtel, TCL, etc.

The benefits are nice. Compensation is average. It's too easy. I can flog myself for 12 months before anyone would notice. What more could you ask for? Glaswhore reviews won't mention any of this.
