Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Seriously?!

I was laid off a couple of months ago because "my position was being eliminated" and now my job is being advertised as an opening.

Screw you, Oracle.

The legit ads should be labelled: RATS WANTED FOR SINKING SHIP!

Exactly right, LOL

Don't believe all the job ads. There are a lot of fake ads that are fishing expeditions or old entries.

The legit ads should be labelled: RATS WANTED FOR SINKING SHIP!

It might all be a matter of who knows who. Who the manager thinks will s----up better to him.

The group I am familiar with, they made a decision to eliminate the product.... laid off the people who knew what they were doing... promoted the 2 clueless s----ups... and now the product will be redesigned/recreated.

The manager is a clueless airhead who should be gone, but must have buddies in the management above him. He's very manipulative, good at making up lies, isolating people to keep them from sharing information, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if they hire new people.

Honestly, I think some of the managers just prefer new people who aren't up-to-speed on their tricks. Narcissists who need fresh blood they can look important to for a couple years before they figure out they are idiots.

Oracle is really over. It's the management that needs to go. Nothing will change until that happens, just a shell game going on, changing bodies around.

Not all of the job postings are real. Oracle does a horrible job with hiring in general and in maintaining their jobs postings. Great candidates get no response when they apply, and utter morons get hired. One colleague got fired from Oracle years ago, was re hired into a similar position, then got fired again last year. He had no, I mean zero, ability in the IT industry and just mooched off of his colleagues.

Forgot to mention in the last post that the 4 people that were hired are US citizens

I think that does happen all the time, though not quite sure why they keep doing it because it surely can't be saving that much money when you factor in the training and ramp-up time for the new hires before they are actually productive.

In our group, 4 or 5 people have been let go in the onsey-twosey layoffs up until about a year ago. And now they hired 4 people to refill those same jobs. I don't know if they are getting paid less, but their job title and job code is the same as the ones that were laid off (not entry-level jobs). These are not college kids or people with no experience.

If someone cheaper is brought in on a VISA, they will have to advertise the position. They will also reach out to you inviting you to apply for the "new" positions. Also a formality and legal CYA for them.

Just trying to get cheaper people in, they still need to do the work.

It happens all the time. There is no logic here. It happened to me and another friend at Oracle. I think they can only advertise your last position only after three months.

That’s how the 2 overpaid CEOs justify their existence - screwing the little people!

That is managing by spreadsheet. Just look at the numbers. No real idea what the persons does until they are laid off and there is a big gap that needs to be filled. Also they are probably filling your spot with a low paid fresh college grad.

I know someone else where the same thing happened. They laid him off, then later opened a rec for his job. Even interviewed people, but I bet they filled the rec in India eventually. I think it's just a way of filling a job with someone from India or someone on H1B visa program.

Screw you, Oracle.

Nope. I think Oracle "screwed" you.

Maybe they realized that they needed the post filled from the void you left.

That's terrible. And I would not be surprised if the pay for that job is lower than what you used to make.
