Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Factual Receiving Changes from a current invoice clerk

Currently no announcement of any position being eliminated. (There is a potential for this though as walmart eliminated receiving clerks 2 years ago.) so know your options.

Week 10 we go live as paperless. There is a new computer system that all vendors can access and will schedule their own appointments through this new program. They will no longer call to make appointments. The filing system goes away. We will use a single record retention box and the invoices will go in there. Once full it will go on a pallet for normal record retention period. All reports go away except for the Freight Receiving Report. More information will be rolling out next week and going forward. All receiving offices should be boxing up current records in their filing cabinets next week. We will slowly be transition to the new changes so come week 10 we should be 100% in the new program.

I have felt all along that they would make clerk and claims both PT instead of leaving claims FT. Less benefits..pto...and insurance on Wal-Mart's part. It seems others think this may happen too. Anyone else feeling this?

Clerk, day dock associate(s), and claim associate(s) will all go to part time week 10 if they are not part time alreasy. Dock team lead (must have position to maintain CONSISTENT supervisor quality control of backroom doors, vacation or PTO is an exception, clerk capable of covering level 7) will be over all of the part time associates. This is how 3 f/t associates can all go part time and continue to run the business because the workload doesn’t change, it’s just the approach that changes.

Seems to be following the exact pattern as business office, corporate wants the program up and running before giving us clerks the 60 day WARNing to make their choice of applying for another job or taking severance pay. As Original Poster said, know your options. Unions and lawsuits that people are hinting at; won't hold up to a restructuring. This change just wasn't rolled out a thoughtful manner and clerks should have been given options up front before making these announcements. There really isn't a comparable job to offer clerks. Not giving clerks the dignity of knowing their choices was poor judgement - to say the least.

THIS IS THE ORIGIONAL POSTER AGAIN

WK 10 paperless process goes live

May- The vendor scheduling app rolls out

All file cabinets will be removed from the rec office with the exception of one two drawer file cabinet that will sit under the desk to house the compliance information.

The paperwork inside those file cabinets will be record rentioned per our current program.

Receiving will only have 1 report to maintain.

-The freight rec report.

I’ll speak up. Looks like we will find out real soon what will happen with clerk role. It’s way obvious it’s just we don’t know the final details here.

If your manager told you that then he was out of line. They always tell every club at the same time when a portion is eliminated. With everything being taken away it is possible but there has been no official announcements of layoffs.

To the original poster. My manager told me the same things. However HE TOLD ME THAT MY FULL TIME POSITION WILL BE ELIMINATED. They are still contemplating whether to fill with part time hours . However this seems unlikely as the dock lead and manager will be able to handle any very MINIMAL tasks that are leftover after the paperless receiving is initiated.

You my friend need to stop looking through rose colored glasses Wal-Mart got rid of that position awhile ago They have survived . Your job and mine is unfortunately over.

I AM THE ORIGIONAL POSTER.

There has been ZERO announcement that invoice clerk positions have either been changed from FT to PT or Eliminated.

There is only the communication about going to paperless receiving and the change in scheduling process.

If there was a change to eliminate the position or to change it from full-time to part-time that would be communicated in a one on one discussion with the invoice clerk to go over this. This has simply not happened. Could it come tru in the future.... sure ....but until that happens stop saying it has been changed when it simply hasn’t.

If a CM has told you otherwise they are simply speculating

THERE WERE NO CHANGES ANNOUNCED RELATED TO THE REC TL

THERE WERE NO CHANGES ANNOUNCED RELATED TO THE NIGHT REC SCHEDULE.

The split recivng shifts are only for test clubs that are currently piloting the program.

THE CMS SIMPLY DISCUSSED PROCESS CHANGES THEY LEARNED AT YBM.

What about receiving overnight? There was a lot of talk about the 4-midnight/4-noon split a while ago that's been tested. Still waiting to see how that's been working out for those clubs and when the rest of us will be switched.

In claims my GM said reports go from 15 to 7. Who knows what will happen but not good for anyone in back room areas.

Our GM said clerk position gone!! I see many on this site saying may be part time but that doesn't help those in position now unless they are ready to cut their benefits and lose insurance and most of their hours.

Also some there ARE some changes coming to claims. They are losing some reports as well. Some seem to think no changes other think PT position as well.

We all feel we are on thin ice. I'm sure Wal-Mart is trying to eliminate as many FT positions as possible...like most other box store retailers.

There was nothing said in regards to anything changing with the Receiving Lead. But again with the new changes there is the potential for future changes.

Absolutely. The information I posted is straight from my Club Manager. With these kinds of changes we won’t know where the position stands until they make an announcement. However with these changes now is a good time for all clerks to have their options prepared and to be ready. It could be eliminated, it could be taken to part time, or it could stay full time with some days scheduled in receiving and other days scheduled in another dept. we won’t know till it happens.

Shouldn't this entitle clerks to severance package. My GM said job is being eliminated, only part time work in receiving office.

Your post seems pretty legit. However I wouldn't expect to keep my position as Receiving Clerk if most of our responsibilities are demishing. I really feel sorry for those who want to stay and keep their jobs. Personally I am preparing to move on because I have a hard time trusting the company any longer. Hard to care for something that couldn't care less for you.
