Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Wills of capital

BlackRock/Vanguard are top 2 institutional holders of Qcom stock. No surprisingly they are 2nd and 3rd largest holders of BRCM.

BRCM's acquisition of Qcom is the will of capital and unstoppable from naysayers such as Cfius. Redomiciling to US is enough to shut Cfius up.

To be realistic, BRCM's bid has nothing to do with china or Chinese government. This is just a game of capital. Not only because they didn't make money on Qcom for past several years, also the need to create a new cash cow from M&A, which is especially important in current lukewarm market.

Free market is an important pillar of modern democracy. Once it works in the frame of law, nothing could be blamed.

Any conspiracy theory in this qcom/brcm show looks like baseless guess.

But those wielding the 'power of capital", the Vanguards and Blackrocks, they are wielding the capital of investors - including 401k holders like almost all Q engineers.

Those loosing their jobs also want their multi-million 401ks to provide decent returns on their Vanguard target date funds. And Vangaurd has to fix the laggards. Guess who has been the laggard of late ?

While it might sound great to spend heavily on R perhaps Q has overspent and returned too little ?

Bcom has been playing a better persuasion game than Qcom. A few days ago they released an ad in NY Times talking about how much entrenched Qcom is in China. Considering how entrenched they are with China, I think Cfius will not care about acquisition.

Broadcom won’t happen because too many governments and large companies don’t want it to happen. If Broadcom attempts to stretch themselves this thin, they will be acquired. Could be Hock Tan’s goal all along. Realized what they purchased and decided to turn & burn.

"bid has nothing to do with china or Chinese government. This is just a game of capital. "

What if at the end of this game, somehow or other, china or Chinese government, also company avgo, is one of the winners. Does government/industry/investor like to see?

When is the weakest moment of Qcom? Now.

Why apple always win? The power of capital.

Will Qcom management team get second chance? No.

who will suffer the most? Qcom/BRCM employee.

Why employee suffer? From top to bottom, they didn't fulfill their fiduciary, do the right thing. Simple but hard enough: one for all, all for one. Nobody is guilty free.
