Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

UNIONIZE

Did anyone else see the post about some associates trying to form a union. Don't believe it will happen but I'm all for it. Company says we don't need anyone speaking for us that we can do that ourselves. I see how far that got us. Where do I sign.

7cel,

Unions will never go into Sam’s. I think they would close the clubs first.

Might as well unionize. They're already dividing associates with this extra pay incentive with the fresh departments. When one department gets to do specified things that other departments aren't offered in their areas....that's segregation. I can't even apply for these fresh pay tiers because I don't work in fresh, so don't tell me I can have the same opportunity that they do.

The people that are saying you can't get a union into Sam's have watched the brainwashing "We are not anti-union, we are pro-associate" video way to many times. Can you imagine how much money a union would make off Sam's and Walmart? It would be HUGE. That doesn't make me have a whole lot of faith that they wouldn't be in it just for the money when I'm paying dues for this support and backing. Now imagine how pee'd Corporate would be!!!

Hahaha. You will never get a union in. But it’s cute that you think it might happen.

Walmart would crush a union. Do you really think that after fifty years, your store will be the one to get a union in? Get over yourselves. You’re lucky Sam’s lets you even have a job.

If a club is shut down, are those associates offered severance?

1ysr,

It’ll never happen. The employees don’t have the will to get it done.

Plus I believe Walmart would just shut down those stores. Nobody will vote union with that threat hanging over their head. They’d have to be loco to do that.

In St. Louis the grocery store union do seem to make life better for the workers.

Wal-Mart would have to multiple stores to make it appear that it wasn't due to Unionization. They would however likely do this. You'd almost need multiple Sams Clubs and or Walmart's that are really profitable in the same area to do it at the same time

If you try and get a union involved l, Walmart will shut down your club so fast that it will make your head spin. If you don't believe me or the post below me, just Google it.

You poor joes are hilarious. You’ll never get a union in Walmart. Jesus Christ himself couldn’t get a union in Walmart. Just give it up and accept your beatings like the wage slaves we all are.

I am not in favor of unions for walmart....what I am in favor of is managers being fair and honest...treat their hourlies like people and not animals...quit playing favorites..learn how to do some of the real work of sams like doing audits and keying receiving...or even something as simple as looking up a receiving pre notification report....most managers can not do the daily running of business things and fancy themselves good managers....one person is right , if you try to unionize your club you will be shut down and if not then those who tried to get a union will be fired for having a crooked nose or some such nonsense.....................people policies are in place that could result in a decent place to work but for that to happen all these crybaby managers would have to stop lying and cheating and learn about running the business and start treating people like people.........

Unionizing won’t change a thing. In fact in this industry, it will only get worst. Unions only want Walmart/Sam’s because it will make them a lot of money and won’t give the associates really anything.

You’ll pay dues that barely offset whatever if any extras they maybe to get you. You will no longer beable to work with your managaers for days off or other personal problems that may come up in life. You’ll have to go through your union leader who could be an on the ball person but most are more worthless than the managers you have that are worthless.

Seriously learn how unions work in the industry you work in before unionizing. They can be great for some industries but honestly I haven’t seen any benifit with them in retail.

Point is, If you aren’t happy with your job or your company then leave. No one is forcing you to stay and honestly no matter where you go, these things will still happen. It’s business and all businesses do it.
