If you think you all will be OK for Tech Sales you are gravely mistaken. We are moving “FULL SPEED” towards a self-service model and all indications confirm that, very soon, we’ll be selling just like Amazon or Google… We are ramping up all efforts in developing this further, we are letting people demo products, research, add/remove features, test at scale, etc.

The old mantra that had the customer in the center of everything is not applicable any more – Ginni is pushing for this and she’s all in. Yet, a lot of our products and services are not compatible with this model and do require a heavy human touch – even the competition is ramping up the ‘human’ component, so I am convinced that cuts to sales (and architecture for that matter) will severely hurt us, the process of losing the marketshare will accelerate.

Cognitive sales are way off in 1Q. The deal on Watson the sham is out of the bag. However, most of our stuff doesn't work so I dunno how this approach is going to work. The labs at FastStart internal training in Vegas a few weeks ago didn't work, it was a fiasco. Same thing we try to demo anything to customers, and we already know all of the warts, bumps and workarounds! Same thing when we try to have a conference call or webcast for that matter, every one is a train wreck of stuff failing, pets barking, kids crying, people ignoring it and talking to other people without realizing they're not muted, slides not appearing, audio not working, nobody paying attention. Stick a fork in this company, it's headed to the boneyard with Kodak, Xerox, Digital, Borland, and so many others
