Relocation

Has anyone been offered the option to relocate? I've seen the video outlining the package, but what I'd like to know is how long you are given before you need to be in your seat, working at the new location.

The timeframe in which a Relo most be completed by is generally negotiable. When I did a Relo I was originally given a 2 month window. I explained that I had no problems doing that but asked if I might have another 2 months just due to circumstances with kids being in school and wanting to finish a school year rather than subject them to a change so late in a school year.

My managers were accommodating and had no problems. We had people in both locations anyhow so it wasn't really so critical to be in one location or the other that it couldn't wait a bit.

I think if you get a Relo offer you will have some input on timeframe. Good luck.

It’s a whirlwind for sure.

Last time we relocated it was exactly 5 weeks from the time I accepted the job offer to when I reported to work at my new location. In that time We went on a house hunting trip, sold my house, bought a new house, movers packed, car was shipped, and I flew to my new destination.

All I can say is wow! Fast and furious.
