Anybody else not surprised that both Sears and Kmart are on this list?
Mind you, this is referring to stores, not the entire company. I'm sure Sears online will have a long and prosperous life after the stores are gone.

To believe otherwise is delusional.
Idk about you guys but the one remaining close Kmart by me looks like a new store, fresh paint, wax on the floors, all the lights on (they only had half ok before) and more stock than I’ve seen in years.

The Kmart that I've been in the past month have name brand snacks, candy. They were fully stocked on all spring clothing, toys, and household items. I noticed after Christmas that they had aisles of things like totes etc, but I'm thinking that is more to do with filling up the season section at a time of the year where they don't need as much space for Valentine/Easter as they do for Christmas. It makes sense that they aren't going to stock the stores as much in January as they do in October. I really honestly haven't noticed any lack of stock or new merchandise, particularly in consumables.
@RVY, yes I have. The Kmart stores in Auburn and Augusta, Maine. They are in terrible shape.
Are those Kmart's that you say had empty shelves and few customers still open? Have you been there in the past month? I can honestly say that as a regular Kmart customer, I've noticed a big difference.
@dci- You definitely dont work at Kmart or have been in one in the last year. We have stock but it is hundreds of the same item. Hundreds of comforters taking up 2 aiels. hundreds of totes taking up whole walls, thousands of little nick nacks filling spaces, pantry filled with off brand items. We have merchandise, just not anything anyone wants to buy
Kmart is now a chain of nearly 400 really busy, clean, well stocked stores. Which stores are these? Every Kmart I've been to was dirty, had empty shelves, and few customers.
Kmart have their market and now that the new Kmart of nearly 400 stores is not carrying the albatross of hundreds of unprofitable stores I expect great things. I really have noticed that stores are very well stocked lately. Does this mean that the problem getting the stores stocked is over now that the company is more financially stable?
