Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Appdynamics

I heard Appdynamics was a bad decision to buy and recently, it has been moved out of Collaboration to Networking. After all Collaboration spent $2 Billion to buy logging software. They are working very hard to make money, but all money shown in their balance sheet is virtual.

Hearing the same unconfirmed rumors from multiple sources. Looks like cuts are on the horizon.

AD is having a significant impact on Cisco's overall non GAAP operating expenses. Close to around 3%. With fast growing Arista in mind, the rumor internally is to significantly cut expenses at AD to boost the bottom line. This means hiring freezes and future layoffs.

BS & DW tend to generate a lot of believable BS. No wonder Cisco overpaid (a lot). Unfortunate drastic cuts are on the horizon in the near future. Feel sorry for the folks currently there.

Agree on the below statements. It was great to work here, profit from the sale to Cisco and even better to get out early this year. Existing folks are looking to leave and the newcomers will be subject to house cleaning by Cisco, who by now have realized that they have been conned and clueless about what to do next.

AppDynamics in it’s current form is a total ClusterF. I was there for 4 years, made my $s and left last month. Too many reorgs in Engg, the SVP left and morale at an all time low. The key members were smart enough to leave last year after the acquisition. The founders, others are there but only for the $s and bidding their time. Cisco got s---ered. Lol

In the waste bin with all the other DC acquisitions. Cloupia, Metacloud, Cliqr, ACI, Nuscale, Composite, Whiptail, Piston, Intercloud, 1000v.

Wasn’t AppD’s Engineering head/CDO fired/parted ways a few weeks back ? He was there for just a year. Unless you are utterly desperate, be extremely careful if you plan on joining, you might only be here for < 6 months before Cisco starts it’s cleaning.

Cisco are spot on with acquistions. We buy based on only two criteria. Revenue bump and are the company in the software business. Depressingly now reduced to buying blatantly obvious shell companies who have no strategy beyond getting brought. Note how many companies were about to IPO when Cisco brought them.

Appdynamics is like a trap for Cisco. No one knows what to do with this . No value add for Cisco's legacy products.

Earlier so called software guys tried to utilize it. Now cabling team will try it. What a waste of money ! when Cisco itself have similar products and had stopped working on them.

If there is anyone planning to join this organization, then think multiple times and then also do not join.

Appdynamics is hiring big time. This means in next 6-8 months time there will be firing as per Cisco's outlook.

Some non-American lucky guy created Appdynamics and earned lot of American Tax payer's money by selling it to Cisco. After a while it was realized that this product is hoax and is not more than High school exercise book. Better to close it, instead of moving it within Cisco.

Cisco do not know about software evolution. They are popular for teaching CCIE, CCNA, etc, etc and are popular in cabling networks.

Cisco is an amalgamation of gambles. Most of its new gambles have failed in this century. One example is cloud where Cisco is now endorsing other popular clouds for name sake.
