Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Say Nice Things About Sears

In Detroit many years ago there was a woman, Emily Gail, she owned a few stores her brother was played Wojo on the Barney Miller show.

Anyway, she started a marathon and she started a program “say nice things about Detroit”

There were T-shirt’s and everything. That’s what we need to do. I come on here and I just see the lies and the negativity. I know a lot of it is people who just short the stock and some are jealous JCP employees (they admitted it)- down below is a thread where the guy even claims to be an economist? Whatever that means.

All I know is they all come on here and say terrible things about this company I’ve lived well, all my life.

Some I’m asking those of you who really work here, to join me and say something nice about Sears.

My coworkers are the best professionals in the business. God bless you all.

The company has made a lot of mistakes and a lot of questionable moves, BUT my coworkers are the best, we are like a family at my Kmart. Managers and DMs come and go, but the “bones” of the store always remain and we work well together

Here's a great story.

Diane Brunetti was manager of Kmart on Aramingo Ave, Philadelphia.

She got sick and never came back to the store, and everyone was happy.

Great times!

@ioyb - did you even bother to read ANY of the posts? Almost all of these occurred in the last 5 years...

You've got to be kidding me. So we are supposed to reach back into our memory banks and come up with a positive story. The problem is, op, that is exactly why today's kmart and Sears employees are so angry. You literally have to go back years to recall when the piece of trash who is our CEO wasn't in charge and we were treated like human beings of value instead of worthless pawns. The problem is, we remember.

@1fig wow that’s incredible. I’m glad you’re better now.

That reminds me how 2 years ago our store adopted a family for Xmas. Three days before Xmas we’re going over there with a turkey, presents etc. we get there and discover the stove, dishwasher and washing machine are all broken. I called my SGM who called Hoffman - within 20 minutes 3 guys from the blue crew wheel up and get everything running in an hour, no charge!! This is a good company, period.

I was hurt st home about 5 years ago, I fell off a ladder and was in the hospital for three weeks and a lot of tough therapy for months at home.

Even though it was an off the job injury the company sent several people over to my house to build a wheelchair ramp so I could come home.

Later, with the full blessing of the company my co workers and our members held a fundraiser for me on friends and family night at our store.

Some of you can make glib comments if you want, but as far as I’m concerned Sears is the best god d/-amn company in the world, and I’ve been blessed to work with The finest people in that great company.

It will be nice when Sears closes and we get something better at the mall.

Nothing wrong with the people that work at Sears and Kmart, very nice people and very helpful. It is the management of the company people have a problem with.

There was this one time when.... Sorry after 38 years and let go I can't think of anything good to say about Sears. I started working for Sears right out of high school and at 57 years old I had to start over and find another job.

I worked at the roseville mi store (transferred now) but when they announced our closing, one of our long time customers came in and brought 20 pizzas for the employees. He was a great guy, everybody knew him by name. He used to try to tip the MPU guys all the time. Some great customers there. Loyal.

@-rdu I don’t believe many of them actually work here, I think they’re day traders like the guy who claimed he was an “economist” lol.

About ten years ago, paychecks didn’t show up for the new people working at our store the SGM reaches into his own pocket and gave them each $200 to get them they till the checks came in the next day.

Truly, Sears people are the best People.

My kenmore broke a few years back or so I thought, so hey I had the blue crew out, Guy was in the neighborhood and able to come out the same day, same day service. The geek squad ain’t gonna do that. He had the part on his truck and had my washer going in 20 minutes flat. Checked out the dryer too and did some preventative maintenance for NO extra charge!

Blue Crew is the Best!

I work at Kmart but a few years ago my car broke down by Sears. The service manager and two mechanics come out and push me right into a bay, within ten minutes they got old Betsy running again, it was a bad ground at the battery.

Can you believe this, hey didn’t even charge me. Sears is the best.

ASM at a Cali store here. I agree. I met my first wife in Appliances, she was a member. I met my second wife in lingerie - she’s an associate. Both great people and that’s what Sears is all about, not the bright lights or the fresh coat of paint or the stained ceiling tiles. It’s about the human factor, the men and women that work here and are our members, that’s why this is the best company in all of retail. Sears- where America STILL shops.

I agree there does seem to be a lot of negativity, it's like some of the people posting on here were angered that Sears Holdings posted a profit, angry that Kmart and Sears are stabilizing, the stock going up, the stores well stocked. It's pretty messed up for these people to hate the company they work for this much!
