Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is there anyone on this board not in SPVSS?

SPVSS is like 2% of Cisco maybe yet if you ooked at this board you would think they are at least ten times that. What's going on with these guys?

Well, here is a short summary of what's going on:

2012 - Cisco announces intent to acquire NDS.

2013 - NDS engineers are onboarded in may. Big layoffs in October.

2014 - NDS engineers waiting for their salary to be on par with the Cisco pay scales. Another big round of layoffs.

2015, 2016 - we are losing customers, hiring has been frozen since a long time and we are still waiting for salary "normalisation".

2017 - cisco transitioned many engineers to an Indian company, LTTS. There are rumours about a sale of the entire division.

2018 - rumours are all but confirmed by management. So instead of waiting for salary normalisation, now we're waiting for being sold and coming out of Cisco.

Bangalore office of NDS had close to 2500 engineers, now it's 250 blue badges in this division.

I'm not in SPVSS. I'm just here to find out what's going on with the plebs.

3 rounds of layoffs in the last approx 18 months

2 at least at not much beyond the minimum for national employment laws to change the way they're dealt with

another of those periods just been exitted, so there's an expected repeat

and/or sell off

is what's going on. SPVSS has a big fat target on its' back, and the personnel know it.

Not sure how other depts in Cisco are faring, but it's not surprising that a board dealing with layoffs is well frequented by folks in a BU that has been seeing lots of layoffs, now is it?
