"advises for your carrier,"
Improvements to written communication would be one item of advice.
Seriously, if you are laid off, stop Q work immediately and put yourself first. Do the absolute minimum needed to satisfy the conditions of the package and not a drop more.
Typically, it is a lump sum
Severance money is a one lump sum payment? Or you remain on the payroll and get biweekly checks?
Good thread
Yes... agreed with the "interview HR" approach. They give you the paper, then you can ask them about severance details, coaching to find out new job, advises for your carrier, etc... Keep calm and talk.
Agree with the interview advice. It’ll likely calm your nerves, and even if you’re not let go, there are other benefits. You can gain a perspective of the market and likely find better opportunities outside of this contracting firm. Jobs will continue to shift oversees, it’s continuing to pace past years.
Start interviewing will make you feel better rather than sitting there and doing nothing
Pull down pants. Take a dump. Use severance package as toilet paper.
There isn't much you can do. They give you a package with lots of paperwork explaining the severance and benefits. Take the rest of the day off (they will offer that to you). Then spend your time reading the material and planning your future. Don't waste anymore time working hard for qcom. Put yourself first.
