It'd be really nice to know if layoffs are really taking place or not. I've been asking around and nobody has heard anything so far, but I see a few people posting here that they've been notified.

Volunteered for layoff. Was told by Sr. Director I was accepted. Had to be prewarned as manager has to travel from SD to give the news on April 18th. QC historically announces on a Wednesday. Not sure if this is volunteers only or also from a non-volunteer list. I am told there will be multiple waves, multiple term dates. My term date is May 23rd. WARN seems to not come into play for latest QC layoffs... check conference room bookings for the 18th if you are a non-believer.
OP I do get your frustration, but trust me, every single time it's the same on this site. you see a spike in visits, people are reading but nobody is posting. the number of viewers will remain high until something happens - the fact that there are so many people here right now tells you a story: anxiety and anticipation... it'll happen and it'll happen soon. the question is how wide and how deep, but we all know it'll happen. i am discounting all reports from today, there was a couple, none provided details = probably not true

@lae This is correct. If Qcom was going to hit a WARN notice, or have a significant headcount reduction, they'd release an official statement on their investor relations page. People will be layed off, But it wont same as 2015. You're not going to see any major satellite offices close either.
No, there is no major layoff that is going to happen. It is all going to happen under/without WARN because Qualcomm themselves HAVE NOT posted a strategic realignment plan like they did in 2015. Mid January they said they will have a 1BIL cost reduction program, and San Diego Tribune sources say it's mostly going to revolve around winding down pre-consumer R&D on 5G, administration overhead, and QTL.
SRP - RIF for 2015. Nothing like this has been posted for 2018 announcement for 1BIL 'cost-reduction.' In 2015 it was specifically called a RIF and SRP.

I think people who are notified don't have the time to post messages. They are possibly in shock and will slowly get back to their new lives. Those who are posting are people around them (my guess).
