I'm so glad it was a GE engine. Now our management will REALLY get what's coming to them!

yep ..GE CF6-80's engines on this bird, if you google this engine this is not the first fire for the engine on a commercial airline. Scary that we all have to put lives in GE's leaderships hands at times when we fly...think about that GE employee's! You know how they run a company do you trust them ??? Integrity is part of their culture...Flying is still one of the safest modes of travel go figure.

Delta N822NW is an Airbus A330-302, which has GE CF6-80E1A4

Confirmed. It was Delta N822NW, and it has GE CF6 engines that were only 3 years old.

The one I saw on the news was an MD90 that blew a tire. This A330 is another incident besides that one, and yes, it might have had CF6es.

Sorry but it appears there was a engine fire. The tire may have blown on landing. Planes do not like to take off and land in a short period of time also the pilot could have put a lot heat in tire by applying brakes. Airbus A330 Run (Trent) 700 along with PW4000 (pratt) engines. The older planes did run CF6 (GE). Wait and see what engine was on the plane.

A tire blew, not the engine. And those engines are the IAE V2500, not GE.
