I was laid-off by Qualcomm in 2015....I am not trying to brag but if it brings any comfort to all
my friends here, I was able to find a much better job ( Great manager/ team, working on cutting edge technology that directly improves peoples lives and health, almost 50% higher pay with better Stocks , bonuses and benefits ) in one of the fastest growing San Diego Biotech companies within 2 months. I was able to use my Severance pay from Qualcomm instead to make a down payment on my first home in San Diego.
I also realized that the layoff helped me get out of my comfort zone and take a leap from the Electronics /Telecommunication industry into the Healthcare/ Biotech sector. Something that I always wanted to do but couldn't muster the courage to pursue.
Sure I was stressed out, pessimistic and depressed for few days after the layoff, but staying optimistic and focused ultimately helped me move on to the next chapter in my life.
Now you wonder....Getting laid off was not that bad at all?? Right???
To all my friends or Ex Collegues who may have gotten affected, I want to emphasize that you are valuable, smart, Intelligent and hardworking. There are companies out there waiting to hire you for your valuable skills, expertise and talent. Stay positive and persistent...things will defiantly turn around :)
