It’s close to 1,000
Regardless of cuts, stock will tank. The street doesn’t care about labor. Q has maxed its innovation. Time to pay China another 1B.
1000 pricey heads costing the company $1M/year is a total $1B savings. Apparently these were all well compensated folks that we will miss dearly.
$20 million saved. Ha, just got to repeat each week for a year and SM will be on target for the shareholders.
Well, also that 5G and NXP thing. And that crazy dividend commitment
20M ha! Just need SM to give back the $65M in stock he gained in December.
I don't think the TV stations have any numbers. They're just repeating each other -- and that's one worker who was quoted. The newspaper article didn't cite any numbers. It was looking for the WARN notice. It also had a statement from the company. I am guessing we will know more tomorrow. Here is the story: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/business/technology/sd-fi-qualcomm-jobcuts-20180418-story.html
In 2015, 1400 layoffs saved the company 1.4 billion, then 1000 layoffs will suffice. Do you know of any Principal Engineers affected?
120-150 a day for the next week or so. That'll start getting close to 250million savings. Not nearly enough. Must be much more in the works.
The layoff notifications have started, no where they reported they ended... Will continue for a couple of weeks. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/business/technology/sd-fi-qualcomm-jobcuts-20180418-story.html
Could it be 150 layoffs each day for the next few days?
It seems ABC got the number from 10news who got it from, literally, 'a guy at starbucks'
Talk about fake news. Makes you wonder what other stories on the evening news are so poorly founded. Bit like Q test data ha ha ha #fakedata #fakespecs !
It is quite strange that the numbers don't add up. I know 400 odd people and only know 4 that have been affected. It is more like 150 people layoffs in San Diego. Unless they are holding up the names. Remember each layoff means that many support staff to answer questions etc. Let's see tomorrow.
My thoughts too...
Not sure how ABC got that 1000 number they covered at 6pm news
