If Bezos understood value, he wouldn't have shelled out $14 billion or so for something he could have easily build himself that was better, faster, more efficient and organized, and not RUN like it was 1980. This brand name wasn't worth $14 billion. If it was, he would be bragging about his return on investment and breaking out the financial results every quarter. Instead, he's giving discounts to Prime members to make it seem like there's "synergy." No one is immune from bad decisions. Blame the lure of the track lighting and fancy displays of apples and cereal boxes.

I agree. It is all about embracing change and moving forward. I think too many people are “stuck” on what WF used to be. The reality is that WF was operating as though is was still 1980. The result was that they were unable to catch up to the rest of the retail sector. In the world, today, charming only gets you so far. Today, people want convenience and value.

Jeff Bezos, whether you love him or hate him, completely understands this.

Before reacting to the opinions expressed in the article by the author, make sure to read Bezo’s actual letter

There’s room for optimism, if you’re willing to keep an open mind and move into the future.
