Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

What Percentage of $1B is “Soft Layoff”

Cutting people and paying a severance, or killing a project gets you someway to the $1B. How much is the company saving by the smart engineers, product managers, testers, and researchers who throw in the towel because they are fed up with racism, poor management and every other problem that Qualcomm has?

Like 80% of the guys here, I joined QC because it was a great company, with smart engineers. That still exists today, but our board is doing the best they can to give not only our best, even the worst of our status collectors a reason to hit the “eject” button.

To the executive board: End this torture now. Cut who you will, and announce it’s over. Be clear about your strategy, and what projects you start and why. It’s not too late, but it sure is getting close.

Rascism, the endless 'status reporting' and the tiresome corporate speak are the reasons I hit eject and left earlier this year. Kept my sanity and no longer feel like I am working for a serial liar.

"$82 materially undervalues...." That was the lie of the decade.

Tell you what board of directors, I'll sell you my stock for $82. You get a buyback bargain and I get to cut last ties with that lying enterprise of yours. Win win. Deal ?

Clear strategy ? Nope. Wont happen. Why ? Because far too many individuals earn their way by keeping things as vague, complicated and obscure as possible.

The Director who told his direct reports "if you want a bonus work hard to make the stock price go up" survived the layoffs...and that's all you need to know to answer the question.
