Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Notified but you still need to continue working for months or no package!

Notified on 4/18. Termination date is in August which is the same as the exit date. But I’m expected to perform on a job that doesn’t see any value in my skillset. Leave early and most likely no package. WTF!

Lucky you, when they cut the UK modem team back during the SRP, they made them work out 8 months notice and train up their replacements in QIPL if they wanted to keep their redundancy pay. They even made them fly to SD for a chip bring up after letting them know they were off. They were expected to do 18 hours a day in the lab supporting the bring up with QIPL engineers (their replacements) looking over their shoulders. HR would not let anyone leave early, loads had to choose between their redundancy payment and a job offer they had.

@1cwq I wish. Was told to spend about 20% on job search and the rest on project related activities #dafuq are they thinking?!

My boss's boss said 'work' 2 weeks only. After May 4th your main job should be finding a new job. Show up on termination date and turn qc crap in, and move on.

Q will not fire anyone for not showing up. Q does not want lawsuits. If you ask HR, you will most likely be granted an early exit date, and an early termination date. HR does not want trouble from this, and they know people respond differently, some humans simply cannot function under this kind of stress.

Last day was 11/20/15. Was notified in September 2015. Had to show up to work every day - was not allowed to WFH. Had to do my job, plus train my co-worker - or no severance package, which wasn't even paid out until January 2016 - just so Q could get a tax break. Sorry to hear about all the layoffs last week.

WFH until termination. What are they going to do? Fire you? And if they are so stupid, ka-ching!
