Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What happened to all that mandatory cross training

The store management sure isn’t doing their part to ensure training is complete by all

and nobody that’s been cross trained on ad set is being required to do ad set

Ivcq- thats truth! Niwit folds R-5 in half so it fits in R-6 size pocket

Because they are to lazy to order a new sign!!

Fold it in half, LMAO. Talk about defeating the purpose! If they're not going to do it right, better to lay it on the shelf where at least the whole thing can be read.

In my store some just shd not be doing ad set because they will not order a sign for size needed instead just use what they get: for example when you need an R-6 for pocket size on a coffee pot why be so lazy and use R-5 for R-6 pocket and think to resolve the fit issue just fold the R-5 in half...grrrr or have an R-4 and just lay it next to item instead of getting sign holder...

I’m picky about my signing And I have been doing ad set for probably 11 years now and I think that’s my biggest pet peeve and it’s allowed to continue since the lead in that Dept was laid off..😢she use to have it signed perfectly

I think the reason is the hours have been cut to the bone. Atleast in my store hours are so cut that its just ridiculous to do any other training. Our store has basically stayed the same doing certain task because others don't want to learn and the time is just to limited.

Let me guess.... no one is helping those ad set MCAs with "their" job, but they are now forced to help with the cashiering and other crap, right?

There's a number or reasons I would not do cashier work, period. It's not the biggest reason, but that help never went both ways was certainly one factor; not going to do their job too when they never helped us MCAs out with all the duties we had.

I never minded doing the ad itself (at least when the technology was behaving and I wasn't missing a bunch of signs)... but I HATED the early hour. (I'm a night owl by nature, so that never worked out well and I could never get enough sleep, IF hardly any, week after week, even though I always tried to get to bed early enough.) Bet you those that the OP talks about who are doing it are simply used to it and willing because someone HAS to, because after the time I've spend doing it I'm certain that they'd probably LOVE to not only get extra help BUT to also actually get that day off once in a while! (I never really did, we didn't have enough people handling it to allow anyone a break...)

Nobody wants to do ad set at my store except for the folks that have been doing it. And we're lucky to have them. Yet another place that Sears and other businesses go wrong. You have people doing jobs well who want to do these jobs despite the BS and low pay but that's not enough. You have to torture them further with good ideas like mandatory cross training. In my store most are willing to help out wherever but this forcing is further demoralizing in an already shaken place.
