Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Poor NXP employees

Anybody else feeling really sorry for NXP employees who are going to become a part of this whole mess through no fault of their own?

I'm betting you that the way we prayed for Broadcom deal to fall through they are doing the same exact thing for Qualcomm acquisition.

Seriously, who normal would want to become a part of this?

"the way we prayed the Broadcom deal would fall through..."?! Speak for yourself buddy.. Many people prayed that it actually went through, knowing it's a great value to our stock given the big mess we're in and no future with the current exec team...

@-vkn "your comp is not only one product you work and not only auto you are I assume"

What language is that ? ! It looks like English words, but all jumbled up. Perhaps someone was at building K for a liquid lunch. Actually, I've seen internal emails not much more clear.

@jbo, your comp is not only one product you work and not only auto you are I assume. What about the other parts? What about the 500M synergy announced in 2015 when merging with FSL? Did that happen?

As an NXP who works in one of the profitable products lines of the Automotive BU the spending has been very much become non existent owing to the merger. For a product line that sees 10% yoy growth this isn't necessarily good long term but managing the spend to deliver revenues while driving up the profits has been a good achievement the NXP management have done.

Coming to the manager, QCM needs NXPI more than the later needs the former. Anyone who thinks NXP is overpriced doesn't necessarily how strong its automotive and secured connectivity business lines are. NXP employees no longer worry about the merger on a whole.

Aiming to make more aquistitions while still dealing with battles is like trying to purchase a home while you still have to cover a lot of debt.

Since FSL takeover in 2015 N had not announced layoffs on web yet. With QN marriage this will happen on both sides. If it fails both comps will fire people anyway. Example is Q. 1500 heads not enough for 1B$ saving. N must have planned on their side as well because during FSL they had planned 500M "synergy". We haven't seen any real announcement yet. After end of July it will be a "real powerhouse"

NXP here: we don't have the full inside what is happening at Q, our managers only tell us it will create a power house...

I can only imagine they are pretty dismayed and alarmed. Much like CSR before them.
